Police called on the public today to help find several people who attacked officers during a May Day protest in downtown Los Angeles.
Chief Charlie Beck shared video images at a news conference of two attacks on officers that occurred after a splinter group broke from the main march on Broadway and briefly skirmished with police.
In one video, a man is seen hitting a female officer from behind, smashing what appears to be a metallic-coloured drum into her helmeted head.
The incident occurred at about 4:15pm at the intersection of Fourth and Hill streets, where Occupy protesters and activist groups had rallied for May Day.
'This is a serious crime against a Los Angeles police officer who was just doing her job,' Beck said.
The attacker appears to be a dark-haired young man with a mop top hairdo....

We don’t seem to have as much of a problem with this sort of nonsense in CCW, stand your ground states.
I wonder why that is?
” that occurred after a splinter group broke from the main march on Broadway and briefly skirmished with police.”
Ever notice how whenever these freaks get violent (usually everytime), it is always portrayed as some splinter group? Never is it part of OWS.
Yepperdoodle... Interesting, that.
Next time pull the cops out and spray the scum with nerve gas.
It’s the police officers fault for getting her head in the way of a peaceful 99%er who was innocently celebrating the general strike.
When will charges be filed against her? /s
Isn’t it amazing we have to hear about this from the UK? Our media must have been tied up somewhere else since it’s crickets out of them regarding this.
Great observation. It is always the “splinter group”.
It was a cheap cowardly thing to do, but come on, a concussion and she is resting at home. Give me a break.
We need women out on the line acting like police officers like we need more of Obama.
I hope they catch the guy and punish him to the full extent of the law. I hope the officer enjoys her time off with pay.
OWS represents a potential ignition point for EU style riots as our economy muddles along where majority of Americans are losing their standard of living while a small percentage is making tons of money. OWS sentiment is out there but the movement is still too radical for Main Street Americans. If the economy drags on like it is today or worst double dips, OWS will expand to include desperate Main Street Americans. Wall Street bankers and their statist establishment politicians/puppets know that. They have reacted pretty severely against the prospect of small gov Tea Party made up of majority of Main Street Americans, imagine how they react to OWS who is aiming their rage at the wealthy elites! OWS has a rep of attracting anarchists to their demonstrations, but it also provides cover for gov provocateurs. Mayor Bloomberg released imates from Rikers Island and told them to go to OWS camp site for free food and etc. IMHO OWS and Wall Street bankers and gov deserve each other. Let them clash in the streets while we Tea Party and Conservatives should take advantage of the violent images to discredit the left, while let OWS beat on the bankers who deserve the treatment for all the scams and looting they have done to this country. Let gov officials and Wall Street bankers taste a little fear in their lives, they deserve it.

Similar media coverup with the so-called "anti-war", "peace" movement and communist involvement. Meanwhile, the friggin marches are organized by communists! Namely, Communist Party USA ("peace" groups include: United for Peace and Justice, Peace Action), Workers World Party ("peace" groups include: ANSWER, Troops Out Now) and the Revolutionary Communist Party ("peace" groups include: World Can't Wait, Refuse And Resist)
