Before we rush to judge football, consider how many have died in riots at soccer games. In 1969, El Salvador and Honduras even went to war over the results of a soccer game.
Yes, football is a rough sport, and some football rivalries are quite bitter, but to my knowledge, no football game has ever resulted in a war.
Why else does Der Fuehrer show up at football and other sporting events? Sure, he’s chronically campaigning, but there is more to it. He wants to rule the world, and that includes our favorite pasttimes. Government must be omnipresent. How else can he rule?
I really doubt that’s the motivation.

It used to be - but not anymore. Football blows baseball away in ratings. The Super Bowl has become like a national holiday. Whereas major league baseball can’t even beat American Idol in the ratings. Baseball is lame.
Football is now commonly referred to as “America’s sport”.
Baseball is “America’s past-time” to some. It is past its time or it’s time has past.
