Former Massaschusetts Governor Mitt Romney has opened a widened lead on President Barack Obama. Battered by poor economic news, the President has dipped, while Romney is surging on new GOP unity. While still early in the race, this is good news for the Republican nominee.
This new poll comes to us from Rasmussen, which is the most reliable of the major pollsters. This also comes as Romney has had some success against Obama in the polls so far. This, however, is the largest yet.
Romney: 50% Obama: 43% Other/don't know: 7%
This is more good news for the Romney campaign. Gallup has Romney up by three, as well.

I remember two weeks before the 1980 election, Gallup had it Jimmy Carter 47, Ronald Reagan 39, and we know what happened also media had Dukakis up on Bush 1 by 17%, and how did that turn out. America is not going to be duped by polls or the media, they are going to get out and vote against Obama.
The real games have yet to begin, people don’t start paying attention until after the conventions.
Plus... America can see how fabricated his whole campaign is now. The constant coverage of preventing bullying in schools all year and then they drop the story that Romney was a bully in high school...how conveeeeenient!
I guess they think we are stupid....I think they are in full on panic mode now and this guy is going to lose worse than Carter.
The left is going to try and paint Obama as the underdog fighting the bully...I don’t think anyone is buying it.
Though Obama’s policies have the country in a mess, I don’t think it’s his policies that explain the political mess he’s now in.
No, it’s that his true character is slowly being revealed. And not through his actions either.
It’s his speeches.
We seem surprised that every time the One delivers an oration, the ensuing polls show a drop. It’s not the content of these speeches that’s causing them to be ill-received, unless you factor in the monotony of repeated failed ideas.
Obama’s delivery now has a noticeable tinge of anger and desperation. Worse for him, the ubiquitous use of the words “I” and “me”, and “my administration”, “my cabinet”, “my Secretary of...”, is corroborating for all the most reviled character trait anyone in any social circle can possess-arrogance.
Clinically extreme arrogance.
We on the right have known this and reviled him for some time. Now the rest of the world is noticing.
He’s the rich kid we all knew in high school who liked to remind us how great his father was. This kid never knew why he had to buy all his friends. The rest of us had trouble even being around him, because it was always about him.
There’s a reason previous presidents have been careful to show humility. It is a leadership trait that is essential to getting things done. For a leader to be constantly taking credit for successes of the minions is demoralizing and debilitating to any effort, and when noticed, can be cringe-inducing.
It’s Obama’s narcissism that is being noticed. It comes through now in his every utterance, and makes him small.
Combine this general feeling of his character with the fact that the economy is in the tank, and you have the makings of a landslide in 2012.
