” can you imagine the chants of “Hoarder! Hoarder!” from those standing on the street in front of your house? “

That may be nothing more than poor English skills on the part of the crowd, coupled with the red light in the Author’s window...

;)

I wouldn’t use that strategy. In a bad situation those with assets are the least valued, those with force most valued. In a ‘provider family’ the family leaders will be summarily executed and the rest will be asked to provide resources, assistance or drive the VBIED if they want the others to live. Saw that it in Iraq.

Anyone who takes the ‘giveaway’ tact will be seen as a provider and preyed upon relentlessly. Best to have a large family or a good co-survival/co-defense arrangement with their neighbors. When the gangs come you hit them hard with everything you have. That will make you known more for force than provisions. They’ll go elsewhere.

The reference was to “legitimate” authorities who are confiscating supplies and weapons “for the greater good”,

not to roaving gangs of thugs without the color of authority.

Somewhere near JRandomFreeper’s resturant would be a good place. “You kill it and he’ll grill it!”

Check most Prepper threads and you will see it. I’ve been harassed by those saying I want something bad to happen and if it does I should ‘share’ my stores with the less fortunate. And if you look we already have two people claiming that any shtf is God’s will on this thread.

“My lazy-assed, garage dwelling neighbor is 37 years old and lives with his mommy. He got a SS award for being “bipolar” (which IMO is a skittles and rainbows diseases that lawyers use to f#ck the system and profit).” My wife has got a nephew and I have a “son-in-Law” that is like that.

I have co-workers I have tried to convince to “arm” themselves to no avail. If they show up at my door, I will have no pity for them.

The types who get me are those who say they’d just as soon die right then and there. No, they’ll never give a decent answer as to what constitutes a lay down and die event. I’ve mostly held my temper knowing it’d do no good to ask them by what method were they going to take out their kids with themselves or were they going drop their kids off with a nice zombie clan or leave them to fend for themselves.

No, I don’t tell my neighbors or family. Not that I have that much “hoarded”, just enough to get us over a few hiccups but nothing extended because it’s not in the budget. There’s one friend who talks big about needing to prep but hasn’t gotten off the couch. I suspect there is a significant percent of couch talkers. Though it is interesting that so many feel bad vibes headed our way.

I'm back in the neighborhood that I grew up in, and have known all of my neighbors except a few for decades.

Same here except the old salt of the earth folk have died off over the years only to be replaced with yuppy libs who haven't a clue.

Um, your mind must be in the gutter. I'm a lady! If the other neighbor ladies are coming to me it's because they don't know how to flip a switch on the breaker box.

What? I agree that God gave men free will, but what does that have to do with me teaching other ladies about prepping?

I've got the feeling that every human on the planet knows "somethin's up". Everyone attributes that anxiety to something. Me? I'm looking up, for our redemption is nigh.

So any evil I do I am not responsible as God created that evil and ordained it to be committed?

That brings to mind that old joke about a guy asking God to save him from a flood. A boat comes by but he says no thanks but that God will provide. The waters get higher so he’s has to go onto the roof. A helicopter comes to pick him up and again he says no thanks but that God will provide. Eventually, he drowns and he angrily confronts God for not saving him. God replies that he had sent the boat and helicopter and whatever else it was.

Perhaps God is sending these doom and gloom vibes to so many people these days for a reason. Perhaps God has seen to it that there is a great increase in survivals supplies in the last few years. Perhaps we’re seeing His rescue boats with these boards and tv shows but too many are the guy in the joke.

We need to decide where Kartographer’s Gulch will be located.

Speaking of which, I will be doing a reconnaissance mission this summer, driving about 5000 miles about the country looking for good retirement locations. The main goal is a location that could also be a good prepping location, if/when the time comes, and could also be a long-term retirement location. I am looking for someplace where acreage is abundant and inexpensive, ~40 acres or more with a reasonable house for about $350,000. Of course, conservative neighbors are right up there on the list. A red state would be best. But I know that there are many conservative pockets all around the country, so I am not ruling out anything other than deep blue states. Weather – an important consideration since I want to be able to heat with wood in the winter and survive without air conditioning in the summer, and be able to grow crops without irrigation. I was thinking middle of the country, latitude wise, to avoid both weather extremes.

These are just some general considerations. I am willing to consider any alternatives, and and even including a drive to Idaho on my trek. A staunchly conservative area might make up for some of the weather/farming problems.

so, if anyone has any input on where they live or where they would like to live that might be a place I could include on my drive, please let me know.
