Israel Enforcing Law Banning Security Guards From Taking Work Firearms Home

In one of the most dangerous places in the world to live, an anti gun rights/anti self defense organization has been successful in their campaign to prevent off duty Israeli security guards from taking their firearms home with them after work. There is an existing law that prohibits them from doing that; however, it has not been enforced.

This group and other international gun banning groups believe that the off duty security guards bringing their firearms home with them poses a "particular danger" to women. The group that calls itself “Gun Free Kitchen Tables,” cites the usual anti gun themes, such as “the impracticality of safe storage in the home for such guns.” They also complain that "there is little public discussion on the implications of small arms proliferation, an issue that is not often talked about in Jewish Israeli society" 1 But, when there is a real and proven daily threat to Israeli lives from terrorists, there probably wouldn’t be much gun control discussion going on for Israelis in the real world of self defense there. In reality, bringing their firearms home with them poses more of a "particular danger" to terrorists.

This push came after one security guard shot his wife 8 times with his service firearm he kept at home. She had previously complained to police about his domestic violence about a year before the shooting, yet apparently remained with him. Another woman was killed by her security guard husband. 1

The government has said that they will enforce the security guard guns at home provision. 1 But, not forgetting the brutal murders that have taken place in Israel and the slaughter of a family of five Israelis killed by Palestinian terrorists in 2011, a new law has been proposed in the last few days to counter...

In Israel with the terrorists, and in America with the home break ins in the inner cities, a woman is far safer at home with a gun in the house than without. That is just statistics, something that leftists cannot comprehend whe it goes against their personal fears.

A lot of jewish familys have died in their houses that did not have guns, from gun violence. One thing I know, its safe to walk the streets late at night in Jewish cities, and there are a LOT of guns in the city most fully automatic.

The danger to women are hordes of crazy eyed Arabs flooding across Israel killing men, women and children in their path.

Every Israel older than 9, should be well armed.

I thought it was expected that Israeli households were “packing”. For crying out loud, they could be invaded at any time.

This is such bullsh*t !

Israel is hardly a dangerous place to live; or to visit for that matter. It probably isn't dangerous because there really are a lot of people walking around with guns, this law notwithstanding. According to Wikipedia, the most recent intentional homicide rate in the US rate per 100,000 was 4.8 while in Israel it was 2.1.

It's a shame that a website that whose name implies that it is a Second Amendment defender would portray Israel in this light. In fact, Israel is a place where there are all sorts of factions and loads of guns, but very little gun violence. It is living proof that guns do not lead to more gun violence.

Note that these rates do not differentiate between gun murders and others, though it would seem that an armed populace might also deter non-gun murders. Also the rate for Israel would appear to INCLUDE terrorist murders given the ~50% increase shown during the second Intifada years (2001, 2002).

It’s Israel. Everyone has guns. When you get on a bus and there are at least 5 M16s and a couple of Uzis on the bus, aside from whatever the driver has, it somehow makes you feel safer. It’s how America was supposed to be.

It depends on where you live and what you do (and if you remain in the reserves). It’s not difficult to have home weapons.

I typically don’t agree with gun control, but 20% of Israel can’t be trusted to not kill with automobiles.
