Gov. Jerry Brown and the budget: deceiver or inept?

Gov. Jerry Brown promised not to follow the lead of his predecessors, to right the ship of state and to make the hard decisions in order to get the state budget into shape. How did that work out?

As economist Thomas Sowell says, “The fact that so many successful politicians are such shameless liars is not only a reflection on them, it is also a reflection on us. When the people want the impossible, only liars can satisfy them, and only in the short run.”

But maybe that’s not the full explanation. There seems ample evidence that maybe Brown’s truthful, but…

Every single Californian that voted for Brown deserves everything that happens.....times ten. This state is ruined by the Dems, unions and the Latino mafia.

Your town is now big enough to have a fire department. You advertise for a fire chief. Applicant A comes in and tells you in the interview that it’s going to take a while to build the necessary infrastructure to fight fires. Water lines have to be run.....hydrants have to be bought and placed......a fire house needs to be built.....equipment has to be purchased......
Applicant B comes to the interview and tells you that he’ll be able to give you money back. All fires will immediately be put out. He can do it from day 1.
Who do you hire?
Well, you hire Applicant B who then uses the tax money to hire his friends and relatives to administrative positions. He then says that taxes need to be raised because there isn’t enough money to buy equipment. You notice large checks going to a political party from the fire department so that the political party can provide cover for this guy.
The moral of the story?

Burn baby, burn.

...deceiver or inept?

Funny thing...the two are not mutually exclusive.

If deception and/or ineptitude are fairly applied they fit California's republican party, and all California voters at least as well as they fit Moonbeam.

Remember, the 'pubbies literally chased Pete Wilson out of office only to replace him with Arnold. Deceiving themselves and a majority of voters, for a brief but critical moment, that they had a true 'California style' conservative. Inept to the degree they thought that stunt might work.

California voters seem willing to lie to themselves every cycle by voting for freebies rather than for fixes. They proved ineptitude by returning Brown to office despite his long career of lunatic politics.

On the national front, the GOP just might have found its version of Arnold for the 2012 election. Let's pray that history does not repeat itself...we just might get a Clinton back in the White House.
