just build an eventually-critical mass of people who refuse to work for them or do business with them on any equitable level, actively discriminate against them, never pass up an opportunity to do something purely because it'll make their lives suck a bit more. Let them suffer our active contempt.Does that mean you're going to sell your iPod, iPhone, iPad and iMac and do without just so you don't fatten Apple's treasury?

Let's make being wealthy so unpleasant that the wealthy choose to not be wealthy. I'm not real sure that will work, after all, making being poor so unpleasant that the poor choose to get rich never seems to work.

The whole population does not suddenly decide it is time to stand up. Someone stands up and others follow. Ah, Lenin's old "Vanguard of the Proletariat" concept I see...

They are victims of their own liberal policies. So many people are on welfare and unemployment and the benefits are so good and provide so much ‘comfort’ that people aren’t worked up enough to go into the streets. The ones that are not on government bennies have all of their Starbucks Lattes and beer paid for by massive student loans and pell grants. So even though they are mad, they are still taken care of enough to be comfortable.
If they want a revolution they will have to get the government to cut these benefits. The problem is that they are the ones in power and this will never happen, its a catch 22! Saul Alinsky tactics don’t work so well when allies are the ones in power.

Was this from Les Miserables? Interesting picture for the "They were hoping for this". The student revolt in Les Miserables was the June 1832 uprising and it lasted about two days before being put down.

Dang it. I *almost* feel sorry for DUmmie,
'nobodyspecial' who wrote the thread.
The poor guy is getting eviscerated by the DUmmies for a small critique of the Occupy (non) Movement, which was just the facts, and even being accused of "red-baiting" when he didn't say squat about Communists.
Maybe he's a: Lousy FReeper Troll? ;-)

What’s scary is that if we vote the right people in office this year and they start cutting spending, people are going to feel pain followed by Greek style unrest.

Most of those DU posters are likely failures at life, many surely came from broken households and are living close to or are in poverty. Their anger at the world and everything about it is just a reflection of the hate they have for themselves, and the pathetic wastes of life they true are.

The last DUmmie post is a heart breaker. That person will probably end it all before long if that is really their feelings.

There was little warning that the French revolution was going to break out, but indeed it did. . . . Are they looking at the French Revolution as a model for their uprising? Murder, pillaging, beheadings and all?

Are they looking at the French Revolution as a model for their uprising? Murder, pillaging, beheadings and all? Do not doubt it. Several months ago at DU, there was a spree of postings with guillotines and "off with their heads" comments. The admins had to clamp down.

I really don't see any viability to this plan. Does this one win the Kewpie Doll For A Moment Of Mental Clarity?
DUmmie nobodyspecial, who is also the OP, certainly would be worthy of a Kewpie, but I wanted to use my "Get that man's name!" line.

Let them suffer our active contempt. What do these people do for money? Borrow/steal from their mom's purses? I don't think I could live life with a mindset like that. Don't wanna work, don't wanna make money, wanna mooch off others, wanna merely subsist on gov't handouts.
