As Molon Labbie pointed out, Martin is also reported as putting his hand in his waistband. You'd have to be nuts to not be apprehensive that the person would draw a firearm. None produced, and we don't know what's on Zimmerman's mind then - did he think it was a bluff?

I agree. And when he's called in the past, about suspicious persons, he's expressly said that he does not want to confront them. That doesn't mean he does not want to keep them in view. As I said previously, if the view Zimmerman expects to obtain is the suspect running away, the inference can't be that Zimmerman desired a confrontation. Even if he wanted a confrontation, slow pudgy Zimmerman couldn't get one on his own abilities.
