Obama's Failure Vs. Walker's Success

Today's weekly addresses from President Barack Obama and Governor Scott Walker speaking on behalf of the GOP both centered on jobs and economic growth. But the similarities end there as their comments demonstrate the stark contrast between left and right, recklessness and responsibility, failure and success.

...Governor Walker’ speech outlined the fundamental difference between Democrats and Republicans with regard to employment saying,

"Sadly, the president and many of his allies seem to measure success by how many people are dependent on government programs…In contrast, I and many other Republicans define success in just the opposite way - by how many people we can free from government dependence by growing the private sector."

The wonks versus the movers.

It was once explained that running a nation was much like sending water through pipes that were surrounded by a refrigerant. So long as the water is moving through the pipe, and is never permitted to be shut off, the pipeline wouild never freeze up. But when the flow is slowed or stopped, the water in the pipe would also freeze up, stopping any output until it is thawed out, and there may be resulting severe damage, depending on the strength and quality of the pipes. The means of thawing things out, ranged from stopping the flow of the refrigerant and warming the pipes from the exterior somehow, to sending some kind of anti-freeze solution through the pipe that necessarily diluted and diminished the purity of the the water when it did again begin to flow, to ripping out the pipes and installing new ones because the existing ones were simply too badly damaged.

In Wisconsin, the movers managed to thaw the pipes out, and while there is increased activity, it is still not where it used to be. But previous state governors has been trying to freeze up the pipes for years, and they came very near to “success”.

At the national level, there is an ongoing effort to continue to freeze the pipes, and the refrigerants include excessive regulation, inserting mandates on employers that cannot be sustained, and making entry into ANY market an excessively difficult and expensive proposition, with no certainty of ever getting a positive return without relying on subsidy and/or political favor. And now the “conventional wisdom” (or collective madness) is that “the rich” should pay their “fair share”, whatever that is, but somehow, nobody can define what either a “fair share” might be, or even who “the rich” are.
