I literally froze up when I saw a new design from Adidas set to hit stores in August. JS Roundhouse Mids, are purple and gray, with HANDCUFFS that wrap around the ankles. Yes, I said handcuffs…shackles….the stuff that our ancestors wore for 400 years while experiencing the most horrific atrocities imaginable, most of which were never documented in the history books and kept away from you in the educational system, all so you would be willing to put shackles on your ankles today and not be so sensitive about it.
I laughed when I saw the shoes, because I already know how many people are going to say, “Boyce, why are you overreacting?” There is always a group of negroes who are more than happy to resubmit themselves to slavery. In fact, commercialized hip-hop culture teaches black men everything they need to know in order to guarantee their own self-destruction (stay high/drunk, carry a gun, sleep with every woman that moves, remain uneducated and waste your money). We follow instructions very well.
First, we get to watch black kids shoot one another over $200 Air Jordans that cost $12 to make. Then, we get to watch people stand in line for a week to buy a pair of Air Yeezys. Now, we get to watch black men willingly put shackles on their ankles because they think it’s cool to do so. This is even worse than when Red Bull held a basketball tournament where free men would play against one another at various prison locations around the country.
When I see the shoes, I also think about the ankle bracelets being worn by far too many men who are affected by the mass incarceration epidemic that the White House says nothing about. The black family has ripped itself apart because so many of our fathers, brothers, husbands and sons are locked away in prison, leaving their children vulnerable to all the horrible things that happen when the man of the house is not away. I am offended by these shoes because there is nothing funny about the prison industrial complex, which is the most genocidal thing to happen to the black family since slavery itself.
As they say, “an educated mind makes you unfit for slavery.” But Adidas, like Nike, understands that there are plenty of uneducated minds that are quite willing to go along with this kind of ridiculous stuff. You won’t see me or my kids wearing any of this stuff, and I hope your kids won’t either. Chains on our ankles are bad enough; but we must also get rid of the chain on our brains.
It is true that some slaves were kept in the status of slave due to strict laws against manumission, though they were treated as free in the household and had freedom of movement not accorded to other slaves.
This is an exception and a minority of cases, but it did indeed happen.
And I think he meant to say they were “treated” as part of the family.
I have, for a long time, thought that most athletic shoes looked really, really stupid.
Somebody would really have to be whacked out to wear those ridiculous looking things.
And whacked out even more to waste time writing editorials about them.

It occurred to me that white leftists and liberals have been on a plantation all their life, too. They’re afraid to have an independent thought and get off the plantation, because they would lose all their friends.

I think this guy writes in "stream of consciousness" style, forgetting what he wrote literally just a few words before. In the previous paragraph he says: "...First, we get to watch black kids shoot one another over $200 Air Jordans..."
No cause and effect there. Assault. Murder. Prison
Naah. No relationship. It is just genocide against blacks.

Many slaves were called Aunt and Uncle and were well loved by the family that had them.Many of them lived better as slaves than many poor white families.Many of them stayed with those families after freedom.

I agree anyone who would wear those shoes is an idiot, but I also think people who pierce their bodies their tongues, their private parts are also idiots, they pay money to have these things done to them, and IMO it’s worse than a pair of stupid shoes.
Regardless of whether or not you think the “slavery” argument has any relevance to the marketing of these ridiculous looking sneakers, you had to know that somebody would make an issue of it. That being the case, didn’t this possibility occur to anyone at Adidas as they were preparing to launch this product? My prediction is that these shoes will be quickly pulled from the market, with the small number of shoes sold in the interim being carefully stored away and offered as colector’s items a few years down the road.
price tag: $350 - $500 BEFORE they hit the secondary market like Ebay, etc. where they will shoot up over $1,000 in minutes
LOL...as I stated in another thread on this same subject, on the good side, it will be easier to find the sneakers thrown over power lines, because the owner will still be attached to them.

Things would be a lot better in the black community if they had more felons out on the street. Of the things tearing up black families, prison is probably one of the least.
I'd say this would save the taxpayers money; however, I imagine that most of these will be purchased with a welfare check.
As for the author of the article.......he may want to note #1 blacks owned slaves in America
#2 It was a black claiming he OWNED his black indentured servant that made slavery legal in colonial America
#3 Slavery is still practiced in Africa
#4 SLAVERY IS STILL PRACTICED IN AMERICA THROUGH ENTITLEMENT PROGRAMS.....the slaves are just more eager to accept their plight.
To be honest, I think this whole thing is hilarious. I feel bad for those blacks who look at these things as simply a stupid waste of money, as many of us do, but have to watch their relatives or acquaintances rail on about them as a serious social issue.
Just as comparing a trite thing with the Holocaust trivializes the Holocaust, making a huge issue out of something as stupid as this trivializes racism.
To be honest, with all the puffery and hysteria about racism that has emanated forth from liberal land since 2008, I am of the opinion that some trivialization might not be a damaging thing for the issue. It would be nice to hear an influential black person say “Hey. This is stupid. There are enough issues worthy of our anger and emotion, and dumb sneakers with silly plastic chains and velcro is not one of them.”
We can always hope. But this kind of statement might come from Allen West, it won’t come from anyone on the liberal side, and will be discounted.
