(The Hill) -- Rep. David Schweikert (R-Ariz.) on Monday proposed legislation that would block enforcement of President Obama's new policy of letting certain illegal immigrants request temporary relief from deportation.

Schweikert's bill would specifically prohibit the Department of Homeland Security from allowing that relief, which Obama described on Friday as an option for up to 800,000 immigrants who came to the United States illegally at a young age. Schweikert said his bill would prevent Obama from "dictating" immigration law from the White House.

Not going anywhere. Republicans are running away from this like it didn’t happen.

Just how would that work? He proposes a bill and even if it gets past the house and senate, it would have to be signed by the so-called president (0bama) to become law. Does he think this will happen?

He should be introducing Articles of Impeachment (can you impeach a usurper?) for failing to uphold the laws of The United States!

proposed legislation that would block enforcement of President Obama's new policy...

Not sure how you block a policy of non-enforcement, which is what this mostly is. I guess they could craft legislation to attempt to block the issuance of work permits to illegal aliens under 30. Nothing would make it through the Senate as of now, though.

The best tactics are to defeat the poser in the WH and elect a House and Senate that will not consider any sort of amnesty, and the courts if there is any route to follow there.

My solution; If you where brought to this nation as a minor by your parents entering illegally. Gather all documentation of your time here. High school diploma/transcripts, work history, college documents if any, recommendations ETC. Go to the country of origin of your father. Report to the US embassy, fill out necessary paper work, undergo background check, demonstrate knowledge of US history and read write and speak English at ninth grade level or better. Having satisfied those requirements be issued a green card and return to the States. Will be proscribed from ever sponsoring a family member for entry to the US.

My solution; The fourteenth amendment where it pertains to citizenship addressed only the children of those who had formerly been slaves in this nation. The citizenship of a child born on US soil of parents who are neither citizens nor here legally is determined as being the same as the citizenship of the father. The child will not be a dual citizen.

My solution; You come here legally you have five years to become a citizen. To become a citizen you must know our history, understand our government and how it is different from others and demonstrate that you can read write and speak English at the ninth grade level or better. Failure to do so will have you returning to your country of origin. NO EXCEPTIONS.

You do realize that half the US-born, publicly educated citizens in this country don't have these qualifications?

Agreed. This is entirely a symbolic gesture.

Obama is playing hardball. If Congress doesn’t play hardball as well, it allows the President to take over their role as lawmakers.

Impeach any official who refuses to enforce the law.

“To become a citizen you must know our history, understand our government...”

Good idea, but who will determine what history is taught? Our public re-education system is nothing but a giant Marxist moron mill.

Speaking of morons, how about this senator’s explanation of the three branches of government?
