Update: The Brit who interrupted Webb Simpson as he was being interviewed by Bob Costas after winning the U.S. Open Championship golf tournament was drunk, police said.

Andrew James Dudley, 40, of Wallasey, United Kingdom was briefly detained by police after he snuck in front of TV cameras and made bird noises. Dudley was wearing a goofy Union-Jack outfit when he was hauled off by police.

After paying probably at least $125 for his ticket who can blame him for wanting to have some fun?

Bird Man who interrupted U.S. Open ceremony was drunk

What? You mean Brits don't always act like this?

I think pro-golf could use more of it. And scantily clad cheerleaders. Maybe some violence too - how about the 2nd place gets a beatdown by his sponsor and/or caddy? Speaking of caddy... maybe Cadillac sponsor a ‘Sudden-death-race’ should there be a tie. The two top finishers get chaced through the parking lot with an CTS-V and the last one standing gets the Green Jacket or whatever.

No, no, no I’ve got it - at the halfway point they do shots of tequilla, put on blindfolds, and start swinging 9 irons at each other?

My gosh, it’s a long summer until Football season.

No need for that kind of jocularity here.

Dear Jeremy Clarkson, Care Of TOP GEAR TV Show: He was British.....driving a Rover on the wrong side of the road.....thought that football was played with a round ball.....was angry because he ordered chips and biscuits and didn’t get fries and cookies.....thought that Big Ben was some timepiece instead of the quarterback for the Steelers.....

He was drunk? Really? I would have never guessed that in a million years. LOL

I do like the fact that the police/Olympic/USGA did not make a big deal over it though. Let the guy sober up and sent him on his way.

In NY Bloomberg would have probably had him executed in Central park and then banned the wearing of any funny headgear.

Sounds like an Adam Sandler movie.

Did I do something wrong? Neither the video nor the picture were taken from the SFGate site—got them from a google search.

It was funny to see Costas come across as a humorless jerk.

What?! A guy who books John McEnroe AND Bill Maher on the same show? You tellin' me that he doesn't have a sense of humor?
