Just the cranberry industry? Orange juice is also full of sugar (in the form of ‘evil’ fructose). Goodbye Florida!

Funny — I was just looking at a recipe for “Cranberry Chicken” for my crock pot (oven is being replaced) — This article just convinced me that THAT’s what DH is going to have for dinner tomorrow night!!

There’s also Brisket With Cranberry Gravy, Cranberry Meatballs, Cranberry-Mustard Pork Loin, Cranberry Pot Roast (now THIS one is delicious!!).

Think I’ll stock up on cranberries tomorrow!!

Moochelle 0Bama is a witch!!!

Bump to your post no. 38.

I drink “no sugar added” Cranberry juice and if I drink regular cranberry juice I water it down — 1 part juice to 3 parts water.

I also take cranberry supplements.

Think we need to check into some of the fruit/food industries in California. How about grapes, or maybe nuts, avocados, or any other food Nancy’s state grows.

Maybe Dole is making its pineapple juices too sweet...

Odd how the food nazi isn’t mentioning sweetened citrus juices/foods.

Boil cranberries and mix them with fresh cherries in season and Splenda. This makes a great desert topping, with zero sugar.

“Who knew? Turkeys don’t like cranberries!”

I bet they’re not crazy about sweet potatoes or pumpkin pie, either.

Do I have evidence that there’s high fructose corn syrup in Ocean Spray and most commercial brands? Ummm....look on the label, you’ll see it listed. As for information about hfcs and how bad it is, if you don’t want to believe me, look it up -

Try the brand Apple & Eve, which is a cranberry-apple blend with no added sugars. The natural sugar content of the apple modifies the cranberry’s tartness.

You’re kidding, right? Cranberries are completely unpalatable without LOADS of sugar or artificial sweetener.

Dried cranberries have high sugar or sweetener too.

What would you suggest as a "healthy" sweetener? As I understand it, sugar is sugar.

Xylitol (Ksylitol) is made from birch. It has a glycemic index of between 9 and 12 (compared to table sugar's 64, and 100 for pure glucose).
It is healthy for your gums and teeth.
It has 40% less calories than sugar.
You cannot taste the difference.
It stops or impedes many infections (pneumonia and strep).
May even stop or impede osteoporosis.
Theoretically, diabetics can consume it without a problem. (Check with your doctor first).
You can probably buy it right now at your local health food store. Use it in your coffee or tea.

The only problem is that you cannot bake with it.

→ more on Xylitol...

Do you have any links re: cranberries or apples break down uric acid in meat? DH has gout. He already uses cherries.

A friend applied for a quality control job at Ocean Spray in Tomah, WI. In her interview, before the recall, she asked if they had plans to update the plant, which needs it. She was told that the company was waiting for the recall election to make the decision as to whether or not to stay in WI. If Walker had lost, they were planning on pulling as much processing as possible out of the state and would have made no new plant investment.

I went to Wholefoods market and asked them if they could recommend something for gout b/c the prescription medication has awful side effects.
They told me, Black Currant Juice consentrated and not to eat pork or deli meats for a while. It worked in one week, went through 2.5 bottles - Gout gone.
They told me, prune juice, apple cider or juice or the reddist fruits are also good. I keep cider and cranberry juice( pure) in the house. Italian subs only once a month.
LiveStrong has some articles.

Cransberries are grown in bogs in many liberal states.

Ocean spray has quite a few cranberry bogs here in South Jersey. The annual Cranberry Festival has about a quarter million people attending every year, and that is only a two day festival in a VERY rural South Jersey.

We Americans are losing our freedoms bite by bite. Nowhere in the Constitution does it give the federal government the power to decide what we put in our mouth and swallow. The Constitution was written to limit and define federal powers. The remaining powers are held by we citizens and our elected state governments.

We look to the defined police power of our states and the federal government to allow government to protect food safety so we are not harmed by rotten or adulterated foods. We should not expect government to be our mama and tell us we have eaten too much or should try the cauliflower.

Please vote for limited government and limited government spending in all coming elections. Don’t let yourselves be deemed wards of the state as you will end up serfs and slaves.
