My sympathies for your loss, Jaqui. May God provide you strength, peace, and bountiful blessings...
Wife and I have both clicked over the 70 year mark.
But we were raised dirt poor in hard scrabble, root wild hog or die country. About ten years into our marriage, we reverted to hard times living in rural Alaska, Kids thought it was a blast, by the time they were ten, were well versed in firearms and hunting grouse, snowshoe rabbits and ptarmigan around home.

We have done it before and can do it again if need should arise.
I am so sorry for your loss, and grateful your husband got to spend 45 years with you. (((hugs)))
Prayers for you. I hope you learn the reasons why God still has purpose for you. Personally when I go through things that cause me great loss, it makes me think about the far greater loss Jesus and the Father went through, when He had to turn His back on Jesus as He became sin for us all. It was a separation never before that happened to the Godhead.
And then I think that I earned all my sadness and suffering and pain, and I hardly get as much as I really deserve. God is truly merciful, sparing us what we’ve really earned. Instead we not only are not given what we deserve, we get God’s GRACE through Jesus (God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense).
Maybe some other people around you need you, or will shortly, in their lives. Everyone is useful, and has talents.
Take whatever I need whenever I need it from Californians.
Well armed in a liberal area is the safest place to be and will be the easiest pickings.
After the collapse, I will live well - just as I do after a hurricane takes out power. I’ve had that experience several times and learned how to live better after each time. I will be at home with small footprint, impossible for me to head to the hills.
When power is off everywhere, there is a profound silence. That silence makes some people antsy/uncomfortable/nervous. Turning on a radio can help these people adjust and starting some activity also helps.
I have a portable TV so I can keep up with the news to have a connection to what’s happening around me. Also have short wave radio to listen to news.
Maybe some of you don’t want to hear what’s happening, but I like to know where the bad guys are, plus other news.
bttt

In a true end of the world scenario, every game animal in the lower 48 will be dead in a matter of a few months. Our ancestors damn near killed off every large animal in the country a hundred fifty years ago when there were a tenth as many of us and everyone was using black powder rifles. What do you think will happen with over a hundred million hunters foraging for ALL their meat with modern rifles? Living off the land is a pipe dream.

Living off the land is a pipe dream.
Modern agriculture is the conversion of petroleum into food. Without it, we would all starve.
Even if you had 40 acres of the best land and the ability to somehow work it, you would be overrun with more marauders than you and your kin could possibly shoot.
Wave after wave would plot how to destroy you, gang up on you and steal your stores, eventually one would get it right.
The wild animals you see running around now would be long gone. Your neighbors have to eat too you know, and they are not as well prepared as you are. If you live by the sea, there is a better chance, but the coasts are quite crowded and likely to be a bloodbath when TSHTF.
Me too.
I left when the idiots elected Clintoon and have not been back since.
Obozo is too much to swallow and it is not the same country I grew up in.
Every war we ever fought to retain liberty has been a waste, as it was allowed to be voted away just as Thomas Jefferson predicted. All that remains is the final crash of the economy, along with the currency... seeing as the nation is some 54Trillion USD in debt and our annual GDP is some 14 Trillion (including public sector!) it is impossible to get out of debt.
Our national debt is over $700,000.00 per family of four or for each individual taxpayer, over $600,000.00 (for those who actually pay taxes).
There are only two ways out:
1.) Inflation
2.) Default
;)
Thanks, the invisible hand, now I have to get the Les Paul out before getting in the shower & jam some. ;) I have to say that we think alike there. I’ll work hard, do all that needs to be done. And then, in the wee hours, when I’m tired, I’ll jam. If I can.
Bill Murray (Ghost Buster, Caddyshack, and a fake Zombie).
Its a reference to the movie Zombieland in which they go to Bills house to hide and he’s still living there dressed up as a Zombie but not a real one. yes its a stupid movie but kinda funny.

Hope you enjoy where you are living. I highly doubt you would still enjoy it if/when America goes. The chaos will be global with those 3rd world countries are much more vulnerable to a myriad of threats.
I love America and have decided to ride it out and pray it survives.
That being said, we learn to adapt. People have had the rug pulled out from under them since the beginning of time and adjusted to the cicumstances. I have prepared to have my family and myself ahead in the game if things reach a certain point, but no one has every scenario covered.
Until that point I will fold prepping into my life but I refuse to make it my total life.
How free is it in the Honduras? Any suggested websites?
That's why humans are social animals. Like it our not, we need each other. Some one else made the boots I'm wearing, the glasses I wear, etc.
A group is a force multiplier and exponentially increases your chances of survival. Each person in our group has specific skills to bring to the group.
BTW, we found LOTS of barb wire at the local flea market. We've acquired about 500 feet for $1. We're getting more this weekend.
"Who's Bill Murray?"
Watch the movie "Zombieland" and you'll get the reference. It's actually quite funny too.
Your post brought me to tears this morning.
I am so sorry for your loss. May God bless you and comfort you, all the days of your life.
