Mitt Romney was booed today at the NAACP conference in Houston after he promised to repeal president Obama’s health care reform law.

“I’m going to eliminate every non-essential, expensive program I can find, that includes Obamacare, and I’m going to work to reform and save –” Romney said before being interrupted by boos for about 10 seconds. (Video)

Why do Republicans appear in front of the NAALCP? Why bother?

Because we are unafraid to speak the truth -- anytime, anywhere and to anyone.

Racism in America today.
Likely half the people that booed will be getting screwed under Obamacare, but because Obama is half black, these black folks will support things he does even when it hurts them

They cannot be courteous around their “peeps”. It’s just their way.

But I do wonder how many went home with that “seed” planted.

He should have handed out a few personal Romney bucks to the crowd. ;-)

Should have offered to pay their utility bills....har har

Unlike Obama (a confirmed liar), he told the truth to perspective voters.

It’s clearly not because they expect to change any minds.

My only guess is that if candidates at least go:
1. Their base is reminded just how much the race baiters hate us and how the race industry works.
2. It takes away the leftard argument that your candidate won’t even talk to the darling racist bigots.
3. It reminds those guilt ridden idiots that voted for Hussein the first time to prove they weren’t racist might want to vote for the American this time to prove they aren’t idiots.

I can’t stand CNN, but I kind of thought Glenn Beck served the public being there than being moved over to FoxNews. He had more of a chance to influence more people that don’t hear the conservative point of view normally.

An added benefit this time around is that La Raza is seriously ticked that the NAACP is getting a visit and they aren’t

It is sort of a pro-forma “I’m not a racist” thing. Romney didn’t do it for the NAALCP, he does it for the mush middle who might otherwise wonder if he really is secretly a racist. Just think of the headlines “Romney refuses to speak with Black Civil Rights Organization.”

I thought they said he was too white to speak to the NAALCP. Maybe he’s learned a valuable lesson and will ignore them in the future like President Bush did.

Save that tape for if Barry gets re-elected and black patients start being denied life saving treatments.

The odds of him getting any votes out of that room are miniscule anyway. Not going at all would make him look cowardly, and he'd be accused of not even giving them the dignitiy of an appearance, which would be spun as racism. So, he's gotta go.

And since he's gotta go, and isn't likely to win converts there no matter what, whether they like him or not is immaterial. In fact, taking a public positon when you know you're going to be booed looks like integrity rather than pandering, and that actually may matter to some voters. Plus, the booing will make the news, as will Romney's statement that he wants to repeal ObamaCare. In other words, they gave him free advertising for an important plank of his campaign.

And had he not mentioned ObamaCare at all, they'd have pointed to that omission as cowardice on his part. Really, he played it the only way he could.

Well, I have to say that Romney gave a pretty good showing of himself and of the Republican party. He didn't pander and ghe told it like it was. He wil;l eliminate every nonessential expensive Program INCLUDING ObamaCare. Even though he knew he would be booed.

That booing gave him 1 to 2 percentage points among undecideds. The NAACP is NOT a well loved benevolent group among independents. He fearlessly went into the lions den and told them what he would do, regardless if they liked it or not. He didn't pander, which is what everyone always says that he does. Well, he wasn't rude, he wasn’t wishy washy, and he had the guts to tell them that they where sold a bill of goods and they should vote for him.

I was much more impressed with his speech than with McLaim’s and Obama SNUBBED the NAACP sending the well known buffoon and bigot Slow Joe BiteMe!

The way things are these days, if the NAACP booed him, he’s got my vote for sure.

Strongly disagree: Charlie Wilson of Stinger fame noted that he won his first election because he went to every black church and asked for their vote. There is a REAL conservative, young GOP guy in the Peoria district of IL who did the same thing and won a district 44% black (forget his name) but he said it was the ONLY time a Repub had ever asked for their vote. Did he get all? No, but he got enough to get elected.
