Let’s Celebrate Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day!

At what point did being right and normal become “controversial”? Oh, we know the cultural tectonic shift from traditional moral values to chaotic debauchery began in earnest in the 1960s, and we have seen our society gradually and steadily slide into moral decay since then.

Those of us who stand for biblical values and principles have allowed the public conversation about truth to be hijacked by the radical Left, although that hijacking has been subtle and creeping. Therefore we now have a media storm of “controversy” when a prominent businessman makes a commonplace statement about his belief in traditional family values and biblical truth. This is a pathetic place to be, but the good news is that we have cause to celebrate and an event in which to make our voices heard in support of right moral values!

I am speaking about Dan Cathy, President of Chick-fil-A, and his recent statements to the Biblical Recorder News and to a radio talk show.

As reported by the Baptist Press,

Asked about the company's support of the traditional family, Cathy said in the Biblical Recorder story, "Well, guilty as charged."

"We are very much supportive of the family—the biblical definition of the family unit," Cathy said. "We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that."

Chick-fil-A's stores are closed on Sundays and the company, he said, "operate[s] on biblical principles." The media storm grew larger when a June 16 radio program was spotlighted in which Cathy underscored the need for children to have a mom and a dad.

"As it relates to society in general, I think we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, 'We know better than You as to what constitutes a marriage,'" Cathy said on "The Ken Coleman Show." "I pray God's mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we would have the audacity to try to redefine what marriage is all about."

What Mr. Cathy said is common-sense, plain truth and yet the militant members of the radical homosexual Left have gone berserk since he made these comments. They have viciously called him all the usual names they like to throw at those of us who stand for God’s morality: “hateful,” “homophobic,” “bigot,” etc. They have called for homosexual boycotts of Chick-fil-A, and they have even scheduled a homosexual kiss day at Chick-fil-A restaurants nationwide, encouraging homosexual degenerates to invade these businesses and publicly demonstrate their detestable behavior in front of families with children present. Let them pull this evil, moronic stunt. It will only hurt their hateful, godless cause as they show themselves to be the shameless reprobates we know them to be.

I have to applaud Mr. Cathy for standing firmly in his Christian knowledge. I wrote a column almost a year and a half ago lamenting what I perceived as Mr. Cathy’s lukewarm stance in the wake of an outpouring of homosexual “outrage” at a Pennsylvania Chick-fil-A franchise that was providing food for a Christian marriage seminar and daring to (gasp!) have the Chick-fil-A name placed on the seminar’s sponsor list.

Mr. Cathy stated at that time of the faux outrage that Chick-fil-A would not be championing any political agendas on marriage and family. Even though I was disappointed with that approach, I understand that Mr. Cathy runs a business. His business is serving an excellent food product at more than 1,600 Chick-fil-A stores nationwide. Chick-fil-A is a food business, not a political action committee, but because it is run on Christian principles, by Christian leadership, it is the target of the satanic forces of hell here in our world.

In this current, dumb hissy fit by the militant homosexuals, the Jim Henson Company has also cancelled their partnership with Chick-fil-A to provide Muppet toys for Chick-fil-A’s kid’s meals. Good. Let the Muppet makers show their true homosexual colors and see how it works out for their bottom line. A development to this story is that Chick-fil-A announced it had recalled the Muppet toys out of safety concerns a day before the Henson Company announced its severing of ties with Chick-fil-A.

Nevertheless, I am encouraged at the flood of support Mr. Cathy and Chick-fil-A have received, with a number of conservative and Christian writers penning columns praising his stand and condemning the vile reactions of the leftist media and radical homosexuals. I can see that conservatives are growing more fearless in the face of the aggressive evil forces in our nation. More and more people are willing to stand up and speak for the truth. The radical homosexual movement is getting push-back, and we need to keep pushing ever harder.

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee has come up with a brilliant idea for something we can do to show our support for Chick-fil-A in a concerted and concentrated way. On his website on Monday, Gov. Huckabee wrote,

I have been incensed at the vitriolic assaults on the Chick fil-A company because the CEO, Dan Cathy, made comments recently in which he affirmed his view that the Biblical view of marriage should be upheld. The Cathy family, led by Chick fil-A founder Truett Cathy, are a wonderful Christian family who are committed to operating the company with Biblical principles and whose story is the true American success story. Starting at age 46 Truett Cathy built Chick fil-A into a $4 billion a year enterprise with over 1600 stores. At 91, he is still active in the company, but his son Dan runs it day to day as CEO. It's a great American story that is being smeared by vicious hate speech and intolerant bigotry from the left.

... I ask you to join me in speaking out on Wednesday, August 1 "Chick fil-A Appreciation Day.” No one is being asked to make signs, speeches, or openly demonstrate. The goal is simple: Let's affirm a business that operates on Christian principles and whose executives are willing to take a stand for the Godly values we espouse by simply showing up and eating at Chick fil-A on Wednesday, August 1. Too often, those on the left make corporate statements to show support for same sex marriage, abortion, or profanity, but if Christians affirm traditional values, we're considered homophobic, fundamentalists, hate-mongers, and intolerant. This effort is not being launched by the Chick fil-A company and no one from the company or family is involved in proposing or promoting it.

There's no need for anyone to be angry or engage in a verbal battle. Simply affirm appreciation for a company run by Christian principles by showing up on Wednesday, August 1 or by participating online – tweeting your support or sending a message on Facebook.

Here is a simple and excellent idea. August 1st is less than a week away—next Wednesday. Let us all make a point of going to our local Chick-fil-A and eating in or getting their delicious food to-go. I plan on going and buying extra to have leftovers. If we spread this message far and wide across America, conservative Christians and all those who support traditional family values could give Chick-fil-A the gift of their biggest day of sales ever!

We can also make a point of regularly visiting Chick-fil-A for breakfast, lunch or dinner to keep the love flowing. I am looking forward to my next warm, delicious Chick-fil-A sandwich, as described on the Chick-fil-A website,

A boneless breast of chicken seasoned to perfection, hand-breaded, pressure cooked in 100% refined peanut oil and served on a toasted, buttered bun with dill pickle chips.

I love that classic chicken sandwich, but Chick-fil-A has a menu full of good stuff from breakfast and desserts to salads to party trays and more.

If you live in an area without a Chick-fil-A restaurant, as Gov. Huckabee said, you can “like” them on Facebook or support them by spreading the message of August 1st Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day on Twitter.

My thanks and appreciation go to Mr. Dan Cathy for taking an unapologetic stand for truth in this lost and dying world.

Thursday is payday for me.

As soon as I get my check, I plan to spend a good chunk of it on Chick-Fil-A.

It’ll be my first try. If it’s as good as everybody tells me, then I’ll go back.

Chick-fil-a is closed on Sundays. I’ve known its a Christian owned restaurant for years and been supporting it because of that. Are these gay rights group thinkers so stupid they didn’t know??

I’ve been thinking for years it would just be a matter of time before someone would try to publicly diss this company because of their outspoken support of Christianity. It’s the divisive Godless society we are devolving in to. Before long, government officials will probably be naming specific church denominations to publicly denounce. We all know how that usually ends. If you are a Christian, prepare for persecution. Oh yeah......and you might want to lock & load while you’re at it.

In Tulsa Oklahoma yesterday it was PACKED. No parking places, lined up in the drive through, it was my wife’s very FIRST Chick Fill A...and my 2nd. We’ll be back this week for MORE. WHEN is it OKAY for Starbucks and J.C. Penny’s to favor the homosexual agenda, same sex marriages giving tons of money to their causes, and it’s NOT okay to believe in traditional marriages.

Faggies in some cities are threatening to invade Chick Fil-A restaurants & stage homoerotic kiss-ins and other gay-in-your-face stunts. Since they already view straight couples as the enemy (”breeders”) & regard CF-A Support Day as a heterosexual counterprotest, things could get ugly.

But I plan on being there, with my wife. We’re peaceful, to a point.

This has been a tough month for us - property taxes, insurance, etc- and we don’t often get fast food. But yesterday, we had the Spicy Chicken Deluxe, some nuggets and the large drink. Had to give Chick-fil-a some lovin’. God bless Mr. Cathy
