"Magic Mike" and "50 Shades of Perversion": Is this "Entertainment" appropriate for Christians?
Consequential Commentary ^ | 7-26-2012 | Mary C. Kirchhoff

Posted on 07/26/2012 8:09:38 PM PDT by InHisService

Too many of us so called “Christians” today buy into the perversion that is prevalent in entertainment, simply because it’s there, it’s being promoted and we read or hear good reviews. The popularity of such genre does not make it acceptable for us, as Christians, to take part in it. If anything, we should be speaking out against it.

Therefore, since these great promises are ours, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that contaminates and defiles body and spirit, and bring our consecration to completeness in the reverential fear of God.” (2 Corinthians 7:1, AMP)

I’m still trying to figure out why no one says anything about the m&m commercial where he says ‘oh, it’s that kind of party’ and supposedly strips.

Doesn’t that give kids ideas? Candy is kind of a kid thing, they play it at hours when kids are watching tv.

Not a word from the public.

Kill your TV and get a life.

No big deal.

It is a tragedy that Christians are being forced to watch this trash.

I killed my TV 7 years ago, and it has done wonders for my life. It now is a DVD monitor. The last movies I watched in a theater were the Lord of the Rings trilogy. But this evening, for example, I rode a horse instead of sitting in front of the Boob Tube...

Yep. I’m reframing my barn in my off hours and tending half an acre of garden. Of course, when the house is quiet, I often sneak off to post...

Shot my TV also. best thing I’ve probably ever done. At least for killing an absolute time waster. Our lives are short enough. See ya’ll on the trails or fishin.

If you can’t be bothered to post more than two sentences, then your blog isn’t for me.

the end of outrage....from liberty to apathy in one generation....

of course we're NOT supposed to say anything, or else were the spoof of late night so called comics....

can't say anything about homosexuality...nor muslims and sharia...nor promiscuity...nor profanity and obscenity...nor pornagraphy....

and Hooters is just a great family restaurant...

Very good, sir.

Baven’t talked to you in a while. Hope you are well. With that attitude, you’re certainly further ahead.

If it’s not God and family first, then what is first in peoples’ lives?

I see your posts from time to time. Hope things are well with you.

Much of the last 6 months has been spent turning Mia (the horse whose ears are in the picture) into a trail horse. She has always been a spook-monster, but she is beginning to get interested in the trails...she’ll stretch her legs out and we’ll soon be several hundred yards ahead of the others. The next step in her training is to try to teach her to go ALONE into the desert. I’m hoping to start work on that in August.

I suspect most folks wouldn’t call that a ‘holy’ undertaking or associate it with God. While I’m a baptist, I tend to agree with the idea that God gives us different things to do, and doing them to the best of our ability honors Him. I think teaching a fear-ridden mare confidence is something God has given me to do. It won’t ‘win the world for Christ’ or gain me much respect, but it is God’s will that we become like Christ - to conform to his image. Jesus spent years taking care of his family building chairs or tables. If God Incarnate could build stuff for others, then who am I to complain that training a nervous horse is too little?

I’ll admit it is easier to seek His will when I don’t have secular culture being pumped into my home via the TV.

Yeah, I don’t have cable and don’t even have digital free
airwave stuff...I really don’t miss it, I do see TV at
other venues, but it really no longer interests me. Most
of it is flash/dash/ads. Very little factual stuff. As
far as those movies...if one really need to watch that stuff
someone has a problem (sin and otherwise)

Throw out the TV just once, you won’t believe how much
free time you suddenly have.

My brother and I only watch the tube when doing our exercise routines on our machines. He watches news, I do hockey or news when puck-slapping is not available. Keeps the boredom factor down. We both are within a pound or two of our teen-age weights!

amen but good luck with that.

95% of all prime time shows and films will have something perverted in it these days, you won’t know about many until its too late.

I wonder how many families sat back to watch Hall Pass and were surprised to see closeup male genitals?
