WH Fast-Tracks Solar Energy Zone (Fed public land)
Sierra Club ^ | 7-27-2012 | Reed McManus

This week the Obama administration released its final blueprint for expediting utility-scale solar energy development in six southwestern states. The plan encompasses 285,000 acres of public land in 17 “solar energy zones” in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah. With an additional 19 million acres of land identified as “variance” areas available for solar development (but without the “fast-tracking” allowed in the 17 zones), the administration estimates that it is laying the groundwork for the development of 23,700 megawatts, enough energy to power 7 million homes.

The process has been contentious, as environmental groups supportive of renewable energy development (including the Sierra Club) have worked to protect fragile public lands while opening them to what amounts to industrial devlopment. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar said that his agency addresses such concerns in the final plan, which covers about 40 percent of the land that had been considered for speedy solar energy development. Writes the New York Times: “Officials said they were fencing off more than 78 million acres of public land from solar development because the areas had less solar energy potential, did not have immediate access to transmission lines or posed a threat to important archaeological or cultural sites, endangered species, scarce water resources or other environmental values if developed.”

“This Administration’s design for solar development on public lands is based on sound principles, particularly by focusing projects in locations with the lowest impacts on wildlife habitat, lands and water,” said Barbara Boyle, senior campaign representative at the Sierra Club. “Limiting projects to low impact zones will also reduce the financial and natural resource costs of electrical transmission.”

KEYWORDS:
The fast-tracked land currently are at 285,000 acres for large-scale solar energy installations.

NY Times reported another 78 million acres public land are being fenced off for later development (currently no supportive infrastructure).

This is Americas land. How much are we taxpayers going to be paid for it?

Besides waiting to hear how much the tax payers who have been supporting it all these years will get paid, who's going to pay for all this industry building? Is Oboma just going to pull money right out of our savings accounts this time, or is he going to use federal funds (again) to launder a few million more tax dollars to his political friends?
We all know this has nothing to do with real green energy, because green energy never works.

(I can't wait for November and Obomas firing. I don't know anyone who can. People will be breaking down doors to get rid of this guy!)

Ok. Obviously this has nothing to do with green energy. None of Obomas green policies had anything to do with energy - just green money for his political buddies.

So, why is Oboma stealing all this land? What's he really going to do with it? Free housing for freeloaders? Free housing for his political cronies? Is there an energy source there he wants to claim and sell off to his political friends?

Why is he really stealing this land away from the American people? When this new "Green Scam" exposes itself, where will the land or federal money go afterwards? Any thoughts?

Liars and green energy is a scam. They use it for money laundering.

Right, your #2 and 3 comments are spot on.

Unfortunately, this news flys so low, under the radar on public minds, it is in danger of touching ground.

Yep. It's self explanatory. Oboma wants all that land for something else.

Something is up, and it stinks more than anything Oboma has done before. What it is is the question. What ever it is, it's goal is to destroy America as we know it, i.e., fundamental change that's going to really hurt. It's not for a few stupid solar panels, that's for sure.

Maybe he'll be giving it to the UN. During Fast and Furious we thought too small. We thought it was for stricter gun laws - controlled by us - in the U.S. It turned out to be an aid for the UN's gun control treaty. It wasn't national - it was international. It was a much bigger.

Latest showed solar panels are in large part Made in China and elsewhere. The Obama backed solar energy companies here in the US fold under like domino.

Who is going to benefit from all this set-aside land?

Yep. Something nasty is going on here. I can feel it. It's worse than all his other green laundering. I can't help but feel it's international again. What ever it is is really bad (for the American people, anyway).

They are, even though they're not admitting it publicly, pushing all environmental concerns aside for this.

No. This has nothing to do with green energy at all. That's just a distraction a lot of people would agree to. Hopefully, it won't take too long for us to figure this one out.

OMG. Except for Texas, all these states belonged to Mexico. The radical Mexicans want their lands back. These are the states they're demanding (they don't stand a chance getting Texas).

Check out the map. Same states as Oboma wants.

Coinsidence? Maybe. Maybe not.

I went and posted the following on the Sierra club site. (I doubt I will get anything but abuse in the way of an answer)

Does covering over thousands of acres of wildlife habitat with solar panels with the possibility of damaging the ecology and habitat from its natural state comport with the Sierra Club’s advocacy of preserving the habitat in its natural state?

When did covering over natural habitat become ‘sound principles?

Does’nt this contradict much of what the Sierra claims is the ruiniation of natural habitat by humans in other projects? Surely there is some toad under there somewhere that will be discomfited. And so on up the food chain...

Amongst the Greenies, this is a contention point too.

The environmentalists have mixed feelings about this 'policy' of using public land for large-scale solar panel reservation.

And I doubt you will get reasoned answers, too. Let me know if there is any news. Thanks.

One guy said he has ‘mixed feelings.”

They never seem to have mixed feelings if it’s a power plant for thousands or millions of homes, using fossil fuels or nuclear—if it would discommode 27 snails or 38 spiders.

That’s why they are money laundering operations. They close early because the green energy organizations and companies have been lying to the public for years. This is how they move our stolen money around.
