A Plea to My Fellow Conservatives: Forget about Chick-fil-A
Principles & Policy ^ | August 2nd, 2012

Posted on 08/02/2012 1:42:10 PM PDT by Sark

You never know what will be the next big news story. Who would’ve guessed that the fast food chain “Chick-fil-A” would dominate the political airwaves just a few months before November? It certainly caught me by surprise, at least. Today, I want to look into the Chick-fil-A controversy, the conservative backlash, and to conclude with an honest plea to my fellow conservatives to move on, already.

What’s the controversy? Early last month, an interview conducted by the Biblical Recorder with Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy surfaced in which Cathy reiterated the company’s support for traditional marriage between a man and a woman. Anyone knowledgeable about the famous chain’s Christian views shouldn’t have been too surprised by the interview, but it still created a small backlash amongst liberals and LGBT activists who called for a boycott of the company’s restaurants. The story didn’t receive a great deal of attention from conservatives, and normally this would be when the attention and controversy began to fade.

Then, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino waded into the controversy and publicly proclaimed that Chick-fil-A wasn’t “welcome” in his city. This got conservatives interested, and soon Twitter and conservative blogs were afire with declarations of support for Chick-fil-A and denunciations of Mayor Menino as a “fascist.” This online firestorm culminated in former Governor Mike Huckabee’s “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day,” which the restaurant chain just announced produced record-breaking sales (and more than a little bit of gloating amongst conservatives).

Sometime, a person has to remind the busybodies whose advice was neither solicited or wanted.... I'll do as I damn well please.

“In the case of the Chick-fil-A controversy, I believe that conservatives are contributing to the problem. While we delight in mocking Mayor Menino and celebrating the success of “Chick-fil-A appreciation day,” nobody’s talking about the economy. Nobody is talking about job growth, dismantling the regulatory state, reducing the debt, or repealing ObamaCare. “

Bullpucky.

There’s nothing to talk about.

We are waiting to (crawling over broken glass on our knees if need be) vote and get this anti-american idiot out of office.

Nothing else needs to be said.

Disagree.

We should support this business and other businesses that don’t follow the PC anti-American anti-Christian agenda.

Vote with your dollars EVERY DAY.

This is an effort to chill speech for ALL Americans and to make the new ‘middle ground’ to the far left.

Basically the MSM and libtards are trying to make anyone for traditional family an ‘extremist’ or ‘intolerant’ or ‘guilty of hate speech.’

Businesses first. Churches later when they go after the tax exempt status of any church not willing to perform ‘gay marriages.’

American is all about money, they say. So let businesses see being pro-family and Christian is smart business.

Push the issue back to where it was. The whole ‘let us do our thing in peace’ was a lie from the start. They won’t be happy until the American family is destroyed. Indoctrinating children, NAMBLA, etc. is their next step.

How can an outfit with the word “Principles” in it tell people to forget about Chick-Fil-A?

I think we should have a “Principled” stand against mayoral rule by fiat, just bcause they don’t like a CEO’s religious views...kinda why the pilgrims came here in the first place. There’s nowhere else to run to now.

Right, because this idiot author can’t walk and chew gum at the same time he assume “we” can’t either.

Sounds like he’s catching liberalism...needs to see a doctor.

Everyone knows the economy is tanking because of ObamaNomics.

Cities coming out and trying to silence Christians with threats against their businesses for stating what a vast majority of Americans belief, including Obama until he ‘evolved’, is a major issue.

This is culture war ground zero and we all need to vote with our dollars every day. Support Christian businesses and fight the pandering to sodomites.

"Who would’ve guessed that the fast food chain “Chick-fil-A” would dominate the political airwaves just a few months before November?"

Just anyone who has been paying attention . . . that's all.

There’s a bit more to remember here. Chicago and Boston thug Obama-in-the-Bag dim operative mayors jumped in a bit too quick, it was obviously co-ordinated. Obama “evolved” safely, 3 months ago, just so that this sort of controversy could emerge to embarass the Christian Right, and in time for the election too.

Gay marriage had become the tacit litmus test for bigotry in the Republican Party. Just like we woke up one day and discovered that an aging white “bigoted” buffoon named Archie Bunker defined who we were as conservatives and Republicans. “Archie Bunker For President” buttons could be had for a penny in gum ball machines.

So they tried to define us again, and failed. The left consists of anti-Christian Anti-Christs. We should remember that, Sark.

Just what we need, advice from a wet-behind-the-ears 21 year old.

Come back sonny, when you've been out of school a few years.

Nobody is talking about job growth, dismantling the regulatory state, reducing the debt, or repealing ObamaCare. “

That is our elected representatives jobs and they have decided they don’t want to deal with it. Not much we can do about that but vote....and I am not sure that will work.

Because Christians need to learn the lesson that when dealing with Alinskyites you need to turn their crap back around on them and shove it straight up their noses.

Christianity teaches us to turn the other cheek. But that just does not work with this crowd. (their leader, after all, dedicated his book to Satan)

Here is the point that you’re missing:

For years, liberals have screamed down and drowned out the conservative voice. We’ve been called ‘racists’, ‘haters’ and much worse. People feel very alone in their thoughts ad beliefs. We thought we were outnumbered.

These quiet stand-ins are powerful. People are realizing that we’ve been the ‘silent majority’ and we’re gaining confidence. I’m starting to see videos defending men’s rights, read my friend’s FB posts espousing their conservationism, and on and on since this has started.

The shame is lifting. The feelings of isolation are lifting. People are discovering their neighbors and coworkers in those lines. Delightful!

The man who harassed the young lady at the CFA window has been shouted down. Gay people are begging the crowd not to associate him with their group... and all he did was behave EXACTLY like every one of these radicals have behaved for years. But we’re not tolerating it.

This is the beginning of the backlash that’s been brewing for three years. This is the breaking point.

It’s time for the push-back.

So let us stand. Let us quietly sit and eat our damn sandwich as we please.

Because, trust me - this issue is symbolic of a MUCH bigger picture.

“How can an outfit with the word “Principles” in it tell people to forget about Chick-Fil-A?”

I think we should send them to the principal’s office! :)

Would it be ok with these people, if we spent one day enjoying the encouraging feeling we received from the spontaneous gathering of our fellow Americans yesterday!

Huh? Move on? This pushback is the best darned thing that’s happened in eons. I stood out in line in the hot sun, and heard everybody all excited and animated, talking about the Cruz victory, Huckabee, Palin, and mad at the cultural disintegration of the country. It was a major spontaneous event, unlike anything since the tea-parties two years ago.

Yet we’re supposed to drop all this? And basically just pay attention to Romney? It’s like saying we should be good little sheep, and follow our GOP-e elders. Good grief, I certainly wouldn’t stay in line in the hot Texas sun for forty minutes to see Romney. To stand up for free speech and Christian values? You damn well bet I would!
