"Our original goal was to support Starbucks for being so supportive of our community and our rights.
"We specifically chose a brick-and-mortar chain to have visible support around the country on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, in direct response to Mike Huckabees Chick-fil-A Day."
In an effort to heighten awareness for all companies and nonprofits contributing to the fight for marriage equality, weve decided to rename August 7 as National Marriage Equality Day...
This expansion of focus is the result of the direct encouragement of Starbucks Corporate Headquarters who wanted other equality-minded companies and organizations to share in the appreciation.

Ford?!?! Dang it, I had decided my next vehicle purchase would be Ford because Chevy took the buyout. Now I don’t know what to do...
Very true. I don’t want the reversal that occurred on Aug 1 to lose its power, so I hope they keep on with their obnoxiousness. I would not feel mean-spirited toward them at all nor harbor any animosity had this all not been such a long, long time in coming.
Drama hogs is right. Yes, all they need is Starbucks and a spotlight and they’ll being flying high.
I think Starbucks wanted the spot light not to be on them only, but with all the other companies as well. And that’s very telling.
Yes, same as when Glenn Beck said same sex marriage was OK, not to make a big deal of it. Just pandering to the lobbby and the monied sponosors. I am all for speaking out and taking a stand, as you note its going to get worse if we remain silent.

How kind of Starbucks.
This is hilarious. All they’ll do is distribute the already-small population that would bother with this amongst (too many) businesses. It will look like any other day. No impact. Nothing different (except I’m sure they’ll wear signs and so on).
Compared to people standing in lines *outside* 1 kind of business all over the country!
Somebody did. Not sure where exactly its coming from as there are so many Rainbow lobbies I can’t keep track of them.
that’s the good ting about this site.
We know we are not alone,we know what is happening around thisn country and how the radical left are trying to destroy the country, the traditions and the foundations.
One thing I will never shut up about is this now, I’m more determined than I was last week.
I really believe Starbucks was kind of saying, “Thanks, but no thanks - after Aug 1 you ain’t gonna stick us in your spotlight.” They don’t want any part of it, IMO. ;-)
Failure again.
Me too. A note was sounded that can’t be silenced.
Sometimes you have to choose based on what is worst of all.
Ford is the only American co. left that didn’t get “owned” by the government. Chrysler is once again truly foreign (resulting in more stupid little crud cars coming to our shores), and GM is really Uhbama’s.
The only other choice - buy used, not from a new dealer. Then no money goes to that company.
ROTFLMAO!! My FReinds, you are toooo much!! ;)
So....should we go to Starbucks and order cups of free water?
I never go to Starbucks - I’ll make sure to keep with my trend on Tuesday.
Me, too. Never go there, not going to start now, even for free water. ;-)
'Back door' is all they know how to do.
When we were kids, this was called a “do-over”.
yep, that’s about the size of it...
When they started pushing into the public schools, I said it’s time to draw the line. My kids are grown now, but pushing this crap on impressionable children is just evil.
If I hear that idiot term “marriage euqlity” one more time.....
