Gay/Lesbian community is blaming both FoxNews and Mike Huckabee for their failure. That is documented in stories by the New York Daily News and Los Angeles Times.
Of course, people may have been confused by the wording of the day: it was billed as Marriage Equality day. To the average person, what does Marriage Equality mean? Sounds like Double Speak.
Facebook is one source for this story.
National Marriage [promoted by Gays/Lesbians] Equality Day
Another is the Los Angeles Times.
New York Daily News is another:
As a post action report, just over 230,000 people were invited and just over 37,000 people went.
This is compared with the 600,000 that joined the Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day by liking the event on Facebook.
This event fizzled.
It probably with be George Washington Bush's fault, except he is no longer president.
What gays need to understand is that they are only 2% of the population and the 98% has said enough.
Your statement is statistically consistent decade after decade of census taking. But thanks to the vocal 2% and their best friends in the media and entertainment complex, you would think gays represent 25% of the population.
Events like Chick-Fil-A backed up by internet pictures that break through the media firewall and the follow on flops by the pro gay factions have broken through this carefully crafted illusion in a very visual and undeniable way. This is the equivalent of “can you hear me now” to the multi-national corps that will now have to reconsider catering to the vocal 2% while taking the 98% for granted.
So I find this stance by Starbucks interesting...
Verrrry. . .
GiBLeT - I don’t know what that is. Is it a brand sold by Target on line?
These Lefties, being essentially anti-Capitalist, just simply do not get up for anything that involves spending money.
My theory on why Air America failed. What’s the point of buying ads aimed at people who hate Capitalism?
What happened to the “Truth and Lies, Nature and Convention” thread???? It must have been pulled or moved while I was reading it.
Since it’s one of the best pieces I’ve read here on the subject, I’m wondering how it got lost so quickly.
GiBLeT - a word first spotted in the wild here:

McDonalds’ coffee—no comparison. But if you can stand the wait, their lattes aren’t awful.
Not that I’m by any means a fan of Starbucks, but to their credit they seem to want nothing to do with this “ME Day”.
Hah. They think Mike Huckabee is possessed with magical powers over people.
Got it, thanks.
You’re welcome.
A Dr Pepper frappe?
Thanks so much for the link, although I’d saved the article. My question was about the thread.
Thanks!
I have given up my lattes. The only coffee I have now is my 3 cups, in the morning, catching up on what I missed while asleep, on my FR.
I wake up 1 hour earlier each day in order to do so. Wednesday is my mid week day off, so I spend much of my time here.
I know, totally pathetic. But 1 hour each morning and after work is simply NOT enough to catch up!!
Hah, knew it would flop. As I said yesterday, Starbucks ha actually chosen to blow the gays off, suggesting they re-name the day (leaving out their company name) and even recommending that the gays spend their money at other pro-gay locations. So if even their “host” rejected them, they were not in good shape. But then we knew that. ;-)
I really appreciate your posting this update- thanks, Topher ;-)
