Akin just decapitated any chance the GOP had of taking the Senate. The damage resulting from his statement resonates far beyond MO. The chances of Obamacare being repealed died as well.

NO -- that happened when Mitt Romney won the nomination.

Does not matter. He is a 6 term congressman. Has large lead with Ind and Repubs. He is not going to get out of the race, he is going to win. I wish we would not throw him under the bus. Claire's pro-abort record and her voting 90% with Obama is known. She will get some donations, may get more MO Dems on her side, but she will NOT win. Missouri will decide this, not FReepers. It is a solid red state.

Sure, the Dems will milk this and the media, Akin will press hard with ads about Claire's very pro-abort record, voting for ObamaCare.

This is not Akin’s first time to say something controversial. It is not good, I agree, but it is also not going to cause a loss to Claire.

He did not say something controversial. He has the brain of a total idiot. That he is a gov’t rep is an indictment of his electorate.

But it is not going to change the fact that he will win.

As in recent campaigns, voters rate social issues – including gun control, abortion, birth control and gay marriage – as far less important than the economy or jobs. About half of registered voters (47%) say gun control will be very important to their vote for president this fall; even fewer rate abortion (39%), birth control (34%) and gay marriage (28%) as very important. By wide margins, the economy (86% very important) and jobs (84%) are the top voting issues.

Republican voters are more likely than Democrats to view abortion and gay marriage as very important. About half of Republicans (51%) rate abortion as very important to their vote, compared with 40% of Democrats.

Does anybody remember the fuss she made about Woopie’s “rape rape” comment, when defending Roman Polanski?

>Nice try Debbie no one but the loony left with put that statement with any Republican<

Don’t bet on that. The liberals on Facebook and on Twitter will saturate the bandwidth with this dreck, no matter how incorrect it is.

And people who are not political junkies will be horrified.

My point was not about who will win. It is solely about this man being a total effin moron. It’s pathetic that this is a possible first lever to pull down.

That Poll was before this Idiot opened his trap.

Give the Democrat Media a week make this topic #1.

It appears the only reason this isn't a blaring headline is because Tony Scott jumped off a bridge last night.

He has been in elected office 20 years in Missouri. It was a stupid statement, but this is molehill/mountain making.

Biden goes on the campaign trail Tuesday. Voters do not pay attention to the Democratic Media. Voters pay attention to the debt, the economy, jobs. We have 2 months to win this, and voters know without the Senate we do not kill ObamaCare.

I am not defending his dumb-ass comments, I am simply saying I know MO voters and they will not vote for ObamaClaire.

Voters in other states will not switch to Obama because of Akin.

I will pray that you are correct, but the Rats are already fishing for Donations because of this.

They are attempting to tie this Idiot to Romney / Ryan and they will pull it off as another Battle the Republicans are waging in their War On Women.

I think the guy should fall on his sword for the sake of the Party and the Country. The more he attempts to defend his comments, the worse it will become.

I disagree. This was far more than a stupid statement. This reveals a stupid man. If a Dem did it, we would be all over him. Both sides have sunk so low that we make excuses for people who have no business being in Congress.

David Vitter (LA) slept with hookers, reelected.

I do not care about Mr. Akin. I want to win that seat. Now if the National RNC or New York or Boston know 100% that without him, Claire will lose, kick him out.

But those MO voters have kept him in office for 20 years, so you better be sure you do not piss them off. You and I have an opinion, but we don't get to vote. So just make damn sure we do not lose this because MO Republicans like stupid Senators and the rest of us do not.

Lots of politicians are creeps and get re-elected: Marion Barry did drugs, Gingrich cheated while complaining about cheating, Cianci, a host of Illinois Dems. There are plenty of examples on both sides.

Until both sides of the aisle grow a backbone, the trend will continue and we will be forced to have a congress of idiots and people of no morality, because too many people vote for trash.

Yes, elected officials mirror their electorate, but I would rather the will of the people, than the Congress deciding who is in and who is out. If we have idiots, no morality and trash in congress, the voters are idiots, with no morality and trash.

I am sick of Republicans jumping on fellow Republicans but not one Republican uttered a word of criticism about Harry Reid when he said on floor, Romney paid no taxes.

I live in a solid conservative state and if Republicans in Congress had governed as solid conservatives we would not be pissing our pants having to worry about one senate seat.

Our leaders in the House and Senate can jump on Akin quickly, but jump right in line behind Dems when it comes to increasing the debt, attacking anyone who says we might want to examine Muslims in govt.

Now Akin may not get out, then what? RNC not going to support him$. All of those Republicans denouncing him in public now run as ads? We really are the stupid party.
