Skip to comments.(Vanity) My Stage IV sister getting worse
Posted on 08/21/2012 4:34:48 PM PDT by the OlLine Rebel
Well I guess here we go again. Luckily, I drove my sister down last week to her beach house and we got to have some time talking alone (for a big change). She got very tired alot - had just finished her radiation for the cancer on her brain, so we figured it made her tired. (BTW, just as she was finishing radiation, she had to euthanize her German Shepherd. It's been that kind of month - there's even more to it than that, but suffice for now.)
So today my mother calls me to say they took Barb to her oncology appt. Mom was distraught and sometimes crying, saying "it doesn't look good". Granted, no scans or anything, but she thought the doctor sounded negative about Barb's recent symptoms. He noticed she looked a little yellow, and Barb has been so weak that she even asked her husband for a wheelchair. The doctor seemed to think maybe the liver has had more spreading.
I have not seen Barb since I left the beach Friday, so I can't really say. Just sounds depressing. I'm afraid about losing her, and we're also afraid about my mother and how this will affect her.
Any continued prayers are appreciated; thanks!
Thanks to those who listen!
So sorry. Prayers for your sister and all your family.
We’re out here. All the best to you and your family.
I’m really sorry to hear this, OLR. Prayers for Barb, for your mom & your whole family for His strength to help you through what’s ahead.
Will pray for all your family.May the Lord easy every ones pain.
I’m sorry. Prayers up.
Praying for your family.
I read and heard. Here’s a prayer to bless you.
Lost my dad a month ago...know how tough it can be.
God bless...and hang tough!
I’m so sorry. I lost my sister to leukemia last year. I still miss her every day. Spend as much time with her as you can. You’ll never regret that.
Your sister and you and your whole family will be in my prayers. Hang in there. Many of us understand what you are going through, so don’t feel guilty. We all need shoulders to lean on sometimes.
God Bless you all.
Not selfish at all, will say a prayer for your sister and your family, I had a friend who was dealing with something similar, and that was a very tough situation to deal with, it always helps to have people listen and talk to!
Barb, you and your family will certainly be in my prayers. I lost my husband in May to peritoneal cancer. It is an extremely tough road to be on. Knowing so many were praying and still are is what is getting me through! And remember to never say goodbye just look for another meeting someday. May The Lord bless you.
Prayers for your sister and family.
God bless your sister, you and your family. Prayers up for her. Lord, please look down on this Your child and have mercy on her. She is suffering for many and in Your infinite love and mercy heal her and give her long life. I ask this is Jesus Holy Name.
I am giving you a website where you can place an intention for her directly at Lourdes.
I am so sorry for your sister! My thoughts and prayers go out to you and all of your family. We have a friends daughter who is only 41 who has been dealing with a rare thyroid cancer for two years. Cancer is awful!!
Please don’t feel that it’s selfish....the Bible says God wants us to ask for our needs.
Will be praying for your sister, and for all of you.
Just be there for everything you can. These are the hardest of times that we all go through. Have faith that God is in control. He is.
I pray the good Lord Jesus Christ will have mercy on her and give her grace for her time of need.I pray the Lord heal her in Jesus holy name. Even more important,I pray that she does know Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour also that she may be with the Lord God in heaven having believe on Him alone for salvation having accepted the grace of God by the provision of Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour.Ask her if she knows the Lord Jesus as Saviour. If not, direct her to the following verses in I Corinthians 15 and then to John 3 15-19 and then to Romans 3:21-28.
1Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
21But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
27Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
28Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
The hardest part of all has been to see the stress it has caused her. With that being said, stay strong and positive for your sister. The last thing she probably needs now is tears.
May God bless you and keep you strong in your battle!
Prayers said for you and your family and especially your sister Barb.
My father died from his third cancer last year. FReepers offered up prayers for him when he was in such pain last year, and I was very grateful for their compassion.
Not selfish at all, OLR. Prayers to you and your family.
Barb was in my prayers when you first wrote about her. Continued prayer to St Rita-Saint of the impossible, that she will intercede on Barb’s behalf. Stay strong.
I am praying for you, your sister, and your parents.
My oldest child died at 21, from sudden cardiac arrhythmia, and my husband recently died from Parkinson’s Plus. This gives me all the reason to pray hard for you and your entire family - hoping that God will give you a reprieve from grief.
But, if our prayers are not answered, stick close to your mom and dad. Grieving takes so much longer than most people realize, and they tend to expect a much quicker return to normal than is possible.
I am praying, let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
Lord, take this burden upon yourself and grant Rebel strength to go through the valley and if it be your will, grant his sister a miracle of healing. Lord, hear our prayers and grant peace. In Jesus' name.
Yes, another meeting and won’t it be joyous?
Prayers for your sister. May God give you his divine strength in this most difficult time.
Prayers for your sister’s miraculous healing.
It helps our group remember that, through all the rancor and disagreements, this is a collection of real people with real joys and real tragedies.
Let me try to repay your kindness by offering my heartfelt prayers for your sister.
May God Bless.
Prayers being sent for your family.
Prayers up for you and Barb and all who love you.
St. Peregrine, please intercede for her!
Prayers for all of you.
I think it probably helps you do to so! Sometimes we need to speak these things out so we can get a handle on them ourselves and put things in order in our brains.
God bless you

Freepers are the best. They’ll listen to any problem or concern, small or even huge. They’ll try and help any way they can. I think this site must have the most dedicated prayer warriors anywhere on the world wide web.
I’m very, very sorry about your sister. Hubby and I have been through similar situations. Just no fun at all.
