They’ll try and push the issue, but it’ll really start to fall flat, if he gets out of the campaign, the brunt of their attacks loses its power, and they know it, which is why McCaskill is so eager for him to stay in, not to mention the guaranteed Senate seat if he does.

Question: Did Rove, Hannity, Coulter, Palin, etc., support Akin before he made his booboo? Did they support him in the primary?

I’m guessing that all this consternation about Akin’s inartful comment is the chance to get rid of Akin because he won’t be controlled by the Republican establishment. The last thing the Establishment wants in the Senate is a Senator who is not afraid to say “no” to the Establishment, or who is an independent thinker.

Haven’t we all be looking for a leader who can’t be pushed around by the vested powers of the Establishment? who is not afraid to say “no” even to his potential President and Vice President?

As for losing the race in Missouri: where are the anti-abortionists going to go? Are they going to vote for the abortionist candidate because the anti-abortionist made a stupid comment?

I think you guys who are pushing for Akin to withdraw should get ready for what you are going to say when Akin comes up with a Chic-Fil-A-type response in the election. You won’t be eating chicken; you’ll be eating crow!

The difference is the standard for whats a 'political liability' is set several magnitudes lower for our side, to the point each of our guys will need a teleprompter and a script written by The Architect himself if they are to get through any campaign.

And professional politicians only need apply. Normal people who think they can still speak freely are toast.

They were using numbers from two different polling companies to exaggerate their point -- I think. The numbers I gave were both from Rasmussen polls 3 weeks apart.

But you are right -- a drop of even 13 in three weeks is not good especially if it stays at those numbers.

He said the other day that he would reevaluate his chances of winning and decide accordingly. I hope he does and makes the right decision.

Rove wants a RINO to take his place.

First of all, this is war, and in war you don’t get to complain how unfair is it the other side is better trained or have better provisions. You have to deal with the reality try to win under adverse conditions.

Secondly, it’s not that hard to not make a verbal gaffe of the magnitude that Akin did. It doesn’t take a professional politician (which Akin is), it just takes a person with a semblance of intelligence, discipline, and awareness, all of which Akin lacks. He comes from a safe conservative district and was completely unprepared for the scrutiny and spotlight of a statewide election with hostile media over his shoulder.

Maybe they didn’t support him because they suspected he’d self-destruct which he promptly did.

Mitt should promise this crackpot a job in the administration...some position that no one cares about. Like Undersecretary for Veterans Affairs.

You’re just not paying attention. Gauthier dropped today, Wiener didn’t fare so well, Spitzer destroyed his career, Torricelli is gone, Garcia made one anti-Israel comment too many etc. The democrats are ruthless about dumping political liabilities.

It’s time for Rove to get out. He squandered 8 years of White House control and now he’s a shill for every RINO to come down the path.

If the piling on by the Republican and conservative establishment eventually forces Akin out, his angry supporters may “go fishing” or even vote for McCaskill on Election Day.

My point on Akin is that if he decides to stay in, and it IS his choice since he won the primary, then the GOP needs to rehabilitate him, not keep knifing him.

— He didn’t consort with call-girls while in office, like Spitzer
— He didn’t text unwanted and bizarre pictures of his genitals , like Weiner
— He didn’t engage in corrupt activities, like Torricelli.

He verbally screwed up. Who the hell hasn’t?
