Some are not buying in anticipation of difficulty buying later. Some have bought so they will have them when they need to use them, later. Difficulty, indeed. How about outright prohibition? Didn’t work for alcohol and drunks couldn’t shoot straight, anyway.

Yep, I was part of that surge today.

Picked up a nice new Rock River Arms LAR15 Elite Operator 2 for a very nice price. Front and stand-alone rear sights, full top rail, extra 30 round magazine, carry handle for well under $1k.

Already like it better than the S&W M&P 15 I picked up a few weeks back. :-)

Firearms sales started skyrocketing back in 2008 (Obama anticipation) and are still going gangbusters.

The real question is; where is the corresponding spike in gun crime?

Obama has made owning a gun quite fashionable.

As someone who works part time in a gun shop, I can tell you business has been BOOMING over the last few weeks. People buying cases upon cases of ammo and more guns than we can keep in stock.

Would it not be nice if other types of business,s were booming?

The reason other business,s are not booming is because of the regulations to keep them from booming.

People are spending their hard earned money for fire arms, i guess because it is still legal.

Earlier this year, Ruger has to shut down orders for a while to fulfill the magnitude of orders they had. I bought my Ruger shortly before this happened.

I was surprised to see that my local Wal-Mart had several under $1,000 5.56 “assault rifles” but of course, this is Texas.

“Front and stand-alone rear sights, full top rail, extra 30 round magazine, carry handle for well under $1k.”

Guns are so expensive, I don't know how you guys have so many. My Ruger revolver a few months ago, ate up a $500 bill. I already had a Colt 38 special that is many years old, belonged to my husband, so don't know how much that one cost.

Are gun companies raising prices because people want guns?

Um... maybe it's been overshadowed by the corresponding reduction in violent crime?

I recently purchased a S&W 38 chiefs special for my CC gun. Love the feel of it and will fit just fine in handbag or waist holster. Set me back about $450. Mr C4E said I done good.

I am not sure if they are or not. I do know there was a large margin from MSRP and what retailers pay for them. A lot of retailers are seizing the moment to increase their profit. In my opinion that is supply and demand.

I am not a retailer.

Wally World has the DPMS Sportical for under $580 in my Michigan Walmart.

“Set me back about $450.”

That is so much money and my Ruger was a bit over that. Hollow points and target type bullets I bought cost over $150 and that's not a huge amount of bullets. I don't have cases of bullets like most have.

I'll be hunkering at home and not out among people or camping in the woods or heading to a bug out location.

Yeah, these were all between $500 and $900. Don’t recall the model names of manufacturers since I’m in no way in the market for an AR-15 type. Lucky to have generic macaroni & cheese on the table most times. LOL

If you can swing it, you might want to pick up some extra mags....like about 10 or so.

I saw one at a Walmart in Clarksville, IN which is a northern suburb so to speak of Louisville, KY. Yeah, I was surprised too.
