What If There Is NO President by January 20th

It COULD happen. At least, SOME of the political experts are saying it COULD happen.

I think America should be prepared for every sort of political gymnastics conceivable come Tuesday, November 6th, 2012. Battalions of lawyers are set to spring into action if there is a hint that Obama may lose. Planning and preparations for such an eventuality have been in progress since the early days of the Obama Administration.

Tying the election up in the courts is the plan. And these people are serious!

So what happens if, indeed the US election is tied up in the judicial system come noon on January 20th, 2013?

"In cases where a President has not been chosen by January 20 or the President-elect "fails to qualify," the Vice President-elect becomes Acting President on January 20 until there is a qualified President. If the President-elect dies before noon January 20, the Twentieth Amendment states the Vice President-elect becomes President. In cases where there is no President-elect or Vice President-elect, the Amendment also gives the Congress the authority to declare an Acting President until such time as there is a President or Vice President. At this point the Presidential Succession Act of 1947 would apply, with the office of the Presidency going to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, followed by the President pro tempore of the Senate and various Cabinet officers." OK. But how exactly is the President-elect and Vice-President-elect decided, I mean, legally decided. And here it gets cloudy and open to all sorts of legal challenges.

There are at least two schools of thought on that.

There is/was also an attempt to get states to work together for the same goal.

Didn’t several States decide to apportion their electoral votes by the popular vote? Colorado comes to mind.

They signed on to an agreement to do that if a majority of other states did the same. We're a long ways from that.

If the government cannot operate under the constitution the people will have to defend themselves against a runaway government to preserve our lives, liberty, and property. That might look like civil war....sham lawyers in court not withstanding.

I hope the obama administration is not that stupid, but my fear is that they are.

I can see riots by Holder’s peeps, a blockade of the WH and US Capitol by obama’s domestic army of panthers SEIU goons anarchists and OWS types

The UN called in to investigate the UN elections while the USSC ponders whether Zimbabwe Law applies here

Congress diddling with their thumbs up their rear ends and unable to swear in new members (at least, the GOP ones), as the rudderless US economy shudders and goes into a flat spin

and Moochelle and her mother refusing to move out of the WH because they “don’t want to uproot the children from their home and school”

I recall at the time thinking that hinging your State’s electoral vote on the outcome of other State’s popular vote would be asking for an election to be tied up in courts for months/years.

Heck, the sitting president could go waaay past his term waiting an outcome.
