$90 Million Price Tag to Prop Up Iraqi Education Bureaucrats
U,S. Trade & Aid Monitor ^ | Oct. 6, 2012 | Steve Peacock

A $90 million contract to build up the Iraqi national education bureaucracy has been awarded to the Washington, D.C.-based firm Creative Associates International, which likewise will be tasked with the standardization of teacher training systems across that nation. As U.S. Trade & Aid Monitor reported earlier this year (April 16, 2012), the U.S. Agency for International Development launched the Arabic-themed USAID/Ajyal (“generations”) initiative to bring about “systems improvements to deliver quality instruction and safe learning environments.” The program will pay special attention to “expanding educational opportunities for girls, and other vulnerable populations and minorities so that they might enjoy higher engagement and retention.”

Source Document: Contract award #AID-267-C-12-00002.

Last thing we need to do is tell others how to educate. We suck at it.

90-million to allocate 1-million in books. But wait, because next year they'll want 1-billion.
Why the hell not, the Dems are all in to spend our cash any way they can.

Or maybe like here, the teachers want golden shrines to teach our children in.
When we start saying "hell no" they'll make due like the rest of us who want a golden mansion.

I think in this particular circumstance, it might be worth the investment. This is because, if we get the textbooks, it means the Islamists won’t choose the textbooks, and every girl who gets educated will be one more woman that will not want her daughter reduced to farm-animal status by Islamists.

For all his faults, Saddam was a firm believer in a secular society, and was a lot closer to our point of view than the Mullahs in Iran. Had he put more time, effort and energy into keeping Iraq together, instead of being a dumbass and invading Kuwait, he would very likely still be in power and treated like we treat the other tyrants in the region.

In any event, the Iraqis are still leaps and bounds more urbane than a lot of the Arabs in the region, and if we can keep them sedate instead of Islamist, it will prevent a lot of heartburn down the road.

Can we please stop spending money on that damned country? Let the Chinese pay for it - they’re getting the oil contracts.

This is because, if we get the textbooks, it means the Islamists won’t choose the textbooks,

I'm not sure that's such an obvious conclusion. Our State Department is just "open minded" enough to let them choose the books.

What part of Gulf War III would be the most expensive, the treasure or the American lives?
