Paul Ryan vs. Joe Biden - A Debate With The Joker
Political Realities ^ | 10/12/12 | LD Jackson

Posted on 10/12/2012 4:52:14 AM PDT by LD Jackson

Paul Ryan-Joe BidenThe title of this post does not fully express the disgust with which I watched the Vice-Presidential debate last night. Paul Ryan and Joe Biden sat down at a table in the first face to face meeting of the two tickets vying for the Presidency since Mitt Romney wiped the floor with Barack Obama. There was never a doubt that Paul Ryan would be in command of the issues. He always is and is more than capable of articulating them with precision and accuracy. There was also no doubt that Joe Biden would be on the attack and that is exactly what happened. Given his bosses performance in Denver, he had no choice. In that regard, he did not disappoint his supporters. From the beginning of the debate, he went after Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan with everything he could muster.

Why did I feel disgust while watching the debate? The first thing that comes to mind is the moderator. Martha Raddatz was completely horrible. The questions she asked were pertinent enough, but she consistently allowed Joe Biden to interrupt Paul Ryan, with almost no rebuke. By some counts, Biden interrupted Ryan 82 different times. There were several times during the debate when Paul Ryan was not allowed to even finish his answer. Most notably was during the exchange on Libya. I realize the debate had to move on at some point, but time after time, Ryan was interrupted by Biden, and then was not allowed to come back and finish answering the question. I have already read several articles that say Marth Raddatz did a fairly good job as moderator, but I disagree. She was an epic failure.

Going to the reason I titled this post as I did, Joe Biden reminded me of the famous character from the Batman comic series. The Joker always had a smile on his face and he was always laughing, but his humor would kill you. He and Batman were always talking to each other during their fights and no matter what happened, the Joker kept right on smiling. Every time Paul Ryan tried to answer a question in his serious and studied manner, Biden started laughing. That laughter almost always led into him interrupting Ryan while he was trying to get his point across. In that regard, Joe Biden won this debate, hands down. Paul Ryan was too polite to assert himself, even though he had every right to do so. He tried to answer the questions and the Joker kept right on laughing and interrupting.

On the issue of the answers each candidate gave, I didn't keep notes and failed to watch the last 15 minutes of the debate, but I believe Paul Ryan did okay on that. Of course, Joe Biden consistently and constantly called him a liar and misrepresented what Ryan was saying, but that was to be expected. There were several glaring examples of this tactic. It first cropped up when the two candidates were talking about Libya. With the facts that we now have available, I am surprised Biden stayed with his story, but that didn't seem to bother him. Even though we all know the Obama administration knew within a day that the attacks in Libya were coordinated terrorist attacks, Biden had no trouble throwing everyone under the bus, except the administration he works for.

Another example of this came during the exchange on Medicare and Social Security. Joe Biden continually accused Paul Ryan of lying about his plan, and that of Mitt Romney, to reform the two programs. He accused them of trying to lower Medicare benefits by turning it into a voucher program. Even though the voucher part is true, they are not trying to lower benefits. No current recipients of Medicare would be affected. Only future generations would see changes. Joe Biden completely fails to mention the pilot programs the Obama administration is allowing to be put into place that does exactly that. Current Medicare recipients are being forced into these programs, with no warning. They can then choose to opt out, but are not specifically given that information. This is a favorite tactic of liberals. They are accusing their opponents of being guilty of the very things they are in the process of implementing. Joe Biden is a master at it, as we saw last night.

One last about last night's debate. I am sick of hearing these calls for specifics from Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. As Ryan tried to point out last night, when asked for the specifics of their tax reform plan, Romney plans to sit down with Congress and work out the details of which loopholes will be closed. A note to the Obama administration, that's called bipartisanship. They should try it sometime and see how well it works. But again, Paul Ryan was not allowed to finish his answer, as the Joker started laughing and interrupted him, thus ending his chance of explaining the truth to the American people.

I would like to say Paul Ryan won this debate. I do believe he did no harm to the Romney campaign, but I'm not sure he helped it much. He had the right answers and he did a good job at trying to articulate what he knows, but he wasn't allowed to give those answers. In that regard, Joe Biden did a masterful job of controlling the debate. He was lying the entire time, but he played his role of the Joker very well.

It seemed like, when Paul Ryan was speaking, the split screen would come up. I think this was coordinated between the Obama campaign and ABC, and will backfire on them.

After Joe Biden would interrupt Paul so Paul couldn’t his point completed, the moderator would say, lets move on to something else. It was a coordinated effort to suppress the Romney/Ryan message. Disgraceful!

The first question was about Bengazi.

The intent by The Moderator was to get it asked and responded to at the very beginning because:

(1) Ryan would still be not settled in, new to national debates, facing the sitting Vice President, and

(2) get it out of the way early, so, by the end of the debate, it would be forgetten.

==

It sort of worked. Ryan answered. Topic ‘vetted’ and not mentioned again.

Ryan should have used the that to beat the Admin over and over for their various lies and versions of their stories. Ryan didn’t.

==

Biden gets a plus on content. Ryan does too. Neither blew the other out of the water.

Biden was childish and embarrassing with his jestures, facial expressions, incessent interruptions. He especially interrupted (or Raddiz did) whenever Ryan was making a point that negative to The Administration.

Ryan got tag teamed. He did manage to hold his own.

“First of all...just look at him. Um...he talks like a fag...”

EXACTLY!

I’ve been comparing Obama’s presidency to that movie since about 2010. And as with the movie, it’s the electorate.

And the debate last night and, more importantly, the liberal response, complete the picture.

Don’t forget that Martha Raddutz aided and abetted Biden’s tactic. She cut Ryan off when he was within half a sentence of pointing out that Biden was wrong on Bengahzi.

And she did that repeatedly. Every time Ryan was about to drive his point home, she would cut him off even though Biden had LOUDLY interrupted Ryan’s answers the whole time he was speaking.

At one point I just walked away and tried to log on to FRee Republic, but I couldn’t get on.

Romney destroyed the marxist POS Obama.

Ryan had the opportunity to tell the American people. finally had the opportunity without the media filter to tell the American people how this socialist POS obama is destroying America with debt, with abusing power, etc. and how the media is covering for it. but he didn't. someone has to get these points to Romney so he says this.

1. how Obama is destroying America with debt more government and abuse of power.
2. how Oamba has abused power with the czars, with the executive order passing the dream act Amnesty.
3. how the media is protecting Obama and pulling the wool over the American peoples eyes (”why hasn't the media asked any of these questions I'm posing like when have the media mentioned the 6 trillion $ in debt that Obama has piled on America and how that debt will cause America to collapse because we can never pay that back.

Me ,a regular joe I would have told Biden, Your socialist leader Obama has piled on 6 trillion in debt on America. Now you detail exactly how we are going to pay that back. And that bird brain Biden would not have been able to answer. Here’s a clue Obama, we will never be able to pay that much money back and we will collapse worse than Greece is. 6 trillion in Obama debt will crush us, the U.s. and no one can tell me it won’t because we will never ever be able to pay that money back. And I would keep peppering that POS biden with that and other questions like how many jobs were there when Obama took over and how many now ? And how there are less jobs now with 8 million more in the workforce about 10 million deficit in jobs etc. many other questions.

I would have pointed out media bias and how Obama is destroying the U.S. with debt and big government and taking our freedoms, and it’s dictatorial executive order :” You tell me how Obama has the right to act like a dictator. I ask Congress now to do your duty and impeach Obama for abuse of power for passing the dream act Amnesty for illegals over the objection of Congress and behind the American people. Have you no shame Obama? Resign now for this dictatorial act and for destroying the American dream, and the media for covering this up”’s back”

Oh I can go on for 300 pages like this but what’s the point. I hope we can still pull it out but Ryan had an opportunity and I hope mitt says this.

I'm a regular joe but I see all this abuse of power etc. and what this Ryan doesn't see that Obama is abusing power and doesn't call for impeachment to tell the American people so they support the impeachment? what the hell is wrong with Ryan . Am I much smarter than him or what ? what?

I did not like that they were all sitting at a table instead of the debaters at podiums. It gives the appearance that the three at the table were “equals” and was designed to intimidate Ryan as the moderator was clearly on Biden’s side. Two against one.

Looks like it became obvious who was the “adult” and who was the “kid” and it was NOT Rep. Paul Ryan in the later positon. Rep. Ryan was the adult.

Over at the lunatic asylum otherwise known as DemocraticUnderground (or DummyUnderground) they’re besides themselves with exultation over Biden’s unhinged performance. A few mentioned Biden’s weird behavior featuring laughing, guffawing, sneering, and constant interrupting with the explanation that “Ryan deserved it for lying all the time.” Seriously, this is what these nuts believe. They think Biden did great and showed that Lyin’ Ryan who was boss. I think they have no clue how boorish Biden came off. Of course these are the people who, like Biden, believe that if you shout loudest, you’re the winner.

There is an old legal adage:

If the facts are on your side, argue the facts. If the law is on your side, argue the law.
If neither the facts nor the law are on you side, bang on the table.

Love it. lol

After a restless night’s sleep, I can’t get the image of that maniacal grin out of my mind. Your title caught my eye, because all that comes to mind is pics of Jack Nicholson. I wish I knew how to post images, but just look up photos of Jack, and you will see Ol Joe’s inspiration.
