YES - my immediate reaction was that he was BULLIED. It was definitely two against one....
Exactly.
Ryan sat back and allowed America to see who should be a
heartbeat away from the Presidency.
It was a brilliant strategy.
Of the people I talk to (both R and D) the biggest topic of conversation was Biden’s demeanor. No one seemed impressed and some were totally appalled.
It may be another Big Bird moment.
I agree with you. Biden tossed sand in his face over and over. Paul may practice well in the gym but sometimes there is no avoiding a fight. He had so many chance to shut Joe down. He has been a door mat for this administration. It’s not the dog in the fight but the fight in the dog. mr. Ryan could have made a large name for himself last nite. He feel short.
“I’m not a clown, but I play one on TV”.
Joe Biden
I was listening to Michael Graham on the ride home earlier and one caller noted that the debate was like a match between the Joker and Robin.
I agree with you. Ryan somehow had sense enough to overcome the natural reaction we who were watching felt inclined towards, that is to do or say this or that. It was like Zen, using the other person’s fury against them.Ryan actually drove Joe crazy because when you are very angry or agitated and the other person stays calm and non-reactive, it tends to increase your level of agitation in an ever more ardent attempt to evoke a reaction. There was once a book based on this dynamic, called “Passive Men, Wild Women.” All in all it enabled Ryan to seem above it all and in the process to also get Biden to vomit up ALL of the debate points they had sewn into his brain. Now the RR team likely has most of the other side’s playbook for the other two debates. Who’s smiling now?
I think Biden was definitely trying to be the bully and bully his opponent, Ryan. Yet you can only be bullied if you allow yourself to be. I think Ryan did fine, rising above the bullying and staying for the most part on subject. Only a few times he had speak out and ask Bozo-Biden to have a respectful discourse.
Speaking as Wisconsinite who has lived through two years of Scott Walker battles, I thought Ryan was fine last night.
During the Walker mess, the left would taunt, yell and cajole at Walker and his allies much like crazy uncle Joe did last night. And they always assumed that their hysteria was playing well with the general public because it played well with them.
Walker just stayed calm and on point. He NEVER got rattled or lashed out in an emotional response. Yet we all wanted to him to lash out, so we’d “feel better” for the moment.
Eventually the middle of the road voter realized the left here in Wisconsin, was downright nuts and completely unhinged. The Leftists in this state would normally get 56-58 percent of the vote in every election, but not anymore.
If Walker had gone all “MSNBC” on his opposition the past two years, I don’t think he’d have the power that he does now.
We just need to play the long game and let what happened last night sink in.
I do not agree. If someone is treating this as a barroom shouting match and hands you so many knockout situations come on. He looked small. The barbell thing before the main event. What a let down.
You wanted an MSNBC debate. With Maddow/Raddatz and Chris Matthews/Biden tossing chairs at Ryan and Ryan tossing them back.
That 5% in the middle that will decide this election doesn’t want to see that stuff.
I understand people want emotional feedback. Heck when Biden mockingly said “Jack Kennedy?!?” I wanted Ryan to fire back “Well Joe, perhaps you’d prefer I cite Neil Kinnock since you are familiar with his works”
The problem is that lines like that immediately pull Ryan down in the gutter and instead of being viewed as a mature problem solver, he starts to sound like B-1 Bob Dornan did on the old Crossfire show.
I’ll take my emotional satisfaction on November 7th. The momentum is now all with Romney. We need to just keep steady these last three weeks.
Steve he could have said this no laughing matter. The American people deserve better Joe. And could have been said politely with some emotion. 82 times he cut on Ryan. 82 times.
Ryan gave the audience a distinct difference
Between Biden.
What other vp debate gave a clearer difference
Between candidates ?
Great thing about freedom is you get choices.
When the choices are so similar your decision
is harder to make.
Go to bestbuy and look at the row of tv’s and
Try to pick one out in 5 minutes.
Ryan made viewers decisions easier.
mission accomplished .
nah, wrong. Conservatives need to be the calm in th storm which is what Ryan demonstrated
you are wrong just so wrong
