There was one answer from the debate last night that I found very interesting, and that was Barack Obama’s answer to high gas prices. Mitt Romney mentioned that the high price of gasoline is proof that Barack Obama’s energy policies aren’t working.
Barack Obama turned around and blamed George Bush’s economy for the low gas prices:
He said when I took office, the price of gasoline was $1.80, $1.86. Why is that? Because the economy was on the verge of collapse
It was interesting to hear Barack Obama blame George Bush for low gas prices, but I understand Barack Obama’s theory; people had less expendable income therefore they traveled less and the demand for gas went down leading to the drop in gas prices. But isn’t this an admission that Barack Obama feels high energy prices are the new normal? Isn’t he basically saying Americans have a choice to make; a bad economy with low gas prices or a good economy with crippling gas prices? Is he actually trying to make the case that the high gas prices are proof the economy is improving? If so, does any of this bother him?
I refuse to believe we cannot have both a good economy and low gas prices like we have had in the past, unless of course Barack Obama wants high gas prices and we know he does. He admitted it when he was running for president when he said energy prices would skyrocket under his plan. Barack Obama also stated he didn’t have a problem with high gas prices, only with how quickly they rose because people didn’t have time to adjust to the new prices.
And he has brought people into his administration who concur with higher gas prices; Energy Secretary Steven Chu once said he wanted to see Europe’s gas prices in the United States. (He has since walked it back when it began to cause Barack Obama some grief, but does anyone really think he has changed his mind?) There was also Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood who stated the Obama regime must coerce people out of their cars.
So Barack Obama has a record here; he only opposes high gas prices when he can use it for political gain against an opponent. But as president he sees this as a crisis which he can then use to push his radical global warming, cap and trade policy. So yes, Barack Obama thinks his energy policies are working just fine.
That is pure Bull S&*T.
In addition, if gas prices were so low when Obama took office because the economy was so bad, gas should almost be free by now.
We heard that as well.
That’s when we slapped our thighs, belly laughed and rolled over!
His answer to the Canadian pipeline was unique....We have lines all over the place.
That statement makes Obama stupider than Biden.
I think I would classify him as the most stupidest.
Since gas prices are falling now does that mean the economy is tanking even more? Should Romney ask him that question on Monday?
My BS meter pegged when I heard him blame the low gas prices when he took office on the bad economy.
I wish the economy was that bad again. In the last 3 years my med insurance went up $250 month, food prices up, gas prices through the roof, plus everything else. And my last raise was 4 years ago.
He has lied enough saying that the economy is great now, that even he believes his own lies. Without a doubt, no matter what happens when he is questioned on his record, it is someone else’s fault. When he is asked direct questions as to who is responsible, he goes into diatribes about something completely different. His worst example from the last debate was when he was questioned about AK47s and an assault weapons ban. He blurted out that he was in favor of one, but then quickly changed to talking about education.
Those gas prices are really falling here in my area....ALL the way down to $3.899. In the last four weeks gas has been $3.959 - $3.789 - $3.959 - and now $3.899
Fact of the matter, folks, is that this IS the new normal.
The sad part of this story is that so many people bought it and continues to buy it.
He actually believes this. It falls into the same category as the deer crossing lady’s view of the world. So breathtaking it is almost sad. With such patterns of thought, he will have a hard time reapplying for the community organizer job.
WOW. We paid $3.20 last night at a Walmart station. They are giving 15 cents off per gallon from now until Christmas for cardholders.
Last week around here it was $3.69.
One of the zeros many unexplainable oxymoron’s.
You really have to have messed up logic to begin to believe that one. Low gas prices are bad? What an idiot.
Anyone know why we still price gas down to the tenth of a penny?
Optics.
$1.99 LOOKS better than $2.00.......UNDER $2.00!
$3.999 LOOKS better than $4.000.....Under $4.000!
It takes MBAs to think this crap up but it only takes a 5th grade education to see through it. I can remember asking my mother about the “99 cents” BS back in the ‘40s. jmo
