Look at the debates as a prize fight. In the first round or first debate, Romney knocked the champion down repeatedly and basically won the presidency. It doesn’t matter if Obama got in more jabs in the last two rounds, the public sees him as a loser. Romney’s much harder punches in the first round which flattened Obama through the debate won it for Romney. In short, Romney got in all the hard punches. By the last debate, Obama was looking like the challenger and Romney the champion.
