During the last week talk show host David Letterman has been calling undecided voters "idiots" because they are still undecided. If he actually knew anything about the candidates he would understand that the undecided voters may be the smart ones.
For those who don't watch Dave, it has been evident for a long time that he's an Obamista. He believes whatever Obama says and ignores criticism of Obama. He frequently criticized Mitt Romney for not releasing his tax returns while saying Obama could keep all his records secret.
Many undecided voters may be waiting to see if secret documents are released. Perhaps undecided voters are more likely to recognize that politicians that attempt to keep documents secret are usually covering up something.
Typically undecided voters in an election involving an incumbent have decided they would rather replace him, but aren't sure of the possible replacement.
President Barack Obama is clearly an ineffective president. He seems unable to comprehend the fact that the al Qaeda attack on the American consulate in Libya indicates the organization may be getting stronger, not weaker. He brags about the drop in unemployment while ignoring the fact the drop is due largely to people becoming so discouraged they have stopped looking for work. A half million have dropped out during the last couple of months.
Obama is the worst president since Gerald Ford. I've been reluctant to compare him to pre-Depression presidents because the office has changed so much since the Depression. However, Obama's recent suggestion that the navy has declined in importance like bayonets and horses, indicates he is out of touch with reality. He may be the on the way to becoming the most irrelevant president since Millard Fillmore.
The challenger Mitt Romney has thus far been uninspiring. Undecided voters want to watch him a little longer to make sure Romney doesn't self destruct.
The undecided voters are attempting to send the major parties a message. They want better quality presidential candidates from the major parties. They want candidates they can have confidence in. They want candidates they can commit to instead of having to decide which is the lesser of the two evils.
Letterman is typical of Obama's celebrity supporters. They lack the intelligence to understand Obama is the biggest nothing to occupy the White House in decades. Possibly the biggest nothing since the 19th century.
Letterman says he’s got no dog in this fight. Why can’t we just take him at his word?
Actually, I agree with Dave on this one.
I find “idiot” to be an apt description of anyone who can either sit at home on their undecided fannies or, worse yet, vote for Barry0.
Letterman is right on this one.
People who are undecided at this point are IDIOTS.
Letterman fans are also idiots. Maybe they could
get together with the undecided idiots and form
an “occupy” movement or something.
Not mutually exclusive. Letterman is an idiot and undecideds are idiots. As it happens they are both attention whores as well.
The undecided are women who are torn between their love for abortion and their hope for a better economy.
I’d take W back in a heartbeat.
Author thinks Ford was worse than Carter? Carter’s mistakes are still causing us problems in the Middle East and elsewhere. Obama represents a continuation of Jimmy Carter’s failed policies domestically and internationally.
They will decide and I don't think Obama will be happy.
Well, not so fast!
I would classify undecided voters into two catagories:
1) Those that are too busy in real life to pay attention to politics and have not yet taken the time to become attuned to the political carp flying around - ie. have not really made up their mind due to insufficient information.
2) Those that have been exposed to the political landscape for months and can’t seem to decide. I call these people idiots! It has nothing to do with undecided - they simply have no ability to absorb the information coming their way and make a logical decision.
So, Dave is half-right and since he has been exposed to the candidates, he belongs to group number 2, and that makes him an idiot.
Perhaps after President Romney takes away Taxpayer support of Planned Parenthood (hope and pray), PP can go public and all the “undecided women” can buy up the IPO. With all the blood money they make on their investment, the Economy will go gangbusters.
Does anyone read the Lawrence Urinal World?
I thought I was the only FReeper who ever posted articles from the the lost in the 70’s bastion of the revolution.
Thankfully, it’s been well contained ever since they burnt down the Student Union by sensible surrounding counties.
As a Missouri native (current Kansas resident) I have entertained notions that another sacking might be therapeutic.
Lawrence Journal World? Lawrence, KS? Home of KU? Little Moscow? Pretty funny a writer in KU town would criticise Creepy Dave, whose audience is mainly stoned college kids.
Letterman has been complaining publicly that Romney won't come on his show. For good reason, because once a President, or Presidential candidate, appears he becomes hostage to the show host, in Letterman's case, a supreme a--hole of a host.
But when Romney wins, I think he should reverse the power situation, and invite Letterman to meet with him at the White House, with the power on Romney's side. Let's see if Letterman has the balls to let a powerful politician have the upper hand.
Undecideds don’t care and don’t vote (although others might vote for them).
It was the undecideds who gave Reagan a landslide victory.
I think many of them have decided they just don’t want to tell the pollsters.
They also may want to make sure a candidate doesn’t do something stupid after they decide to vote for him.
Ford abandoned our South Vietnamese allies and lost the election because he forgot the Soviet Union controlled Poland.
