Just wondering how many days did the NE have to prepare for this? Food, car’s tank filled, ect.

“Lower” Manhattan still in standstill because of no power. And by “Lower”, I mean just about everything below 34th Street, which is more than 1/2 of Manhattan business area.

At this point, all the gas stations are empty in NYC, and cars / cabs on the road are thinning, disappearing slowly.

Things are going from bad to worse...

Indeed.

The liberal take: "Obama hugged a couple of people. We have the video! Everything is fine. Move along."

The take of the fake "conservative" subset of FReepers: "Everything is fine. No food, no heat, no gas, no clean water? Stop whining!"

Reality: Many individuals made substantial provisions for contingencies, but local, state and federal governments apparently did not. As those individuals reach day 5 of consuming their provisions, there is little supplementation from public services. All those exorbitant taxes have apparently bought nothing.

Just stay safe. As someone who went without power for 8 days in the middle of December, I know exactly how it feels.

It's not too often you hear the media or ANYBODY for that matter saying that the President is acting "presidential". In fact, I think this election is the first time I've seen it happen.

It's a very telling statement.

Normally that's used for challengers and candidates wanting to be President.

“Are some people so gullible, incompetent, and naive to still fall for these publicity stunts?”

In short, yes.
Staten Island is dead in the water with no real help coming yet, but because Skippy the Echolocating Wonderbat bloviated and condescended to hug some of the fragrant masses the media and the short term mempory loss types will overlook such things.
And they will ignore his comment that we don’t leave anyone behnd despite him doing just that to our men in Benghazi.

[As an aside, did anyone else hear a reporterette say on Saturday that Bloombug was the ‘god of New York City’?]

"Obama looked so presidential!"

Really? Are some people so gullible, incompetent, and naive to still fall for these publicity stunts? He comes in for 1 hour - 1 hour - and then heads off to Vegas AGAIN for a fundraiser.

But, but.... He HUGGED a storm victim.

Now if THAT isn't Presidential, then I don't know what is.

/s

Good rant, btw. Let me add to it. WTF is up with power companies coming from miles away to help restore electricity only to be TURNED AWAY because they're non-union.

Enjou the Marathon on Sunday.

Perhaps you can dress as a runner and get free food and water along the route. You could also warm up on their
heaters being powered by the massive generators set asside
for the race. ;-)

I’m truly sorry to hear about your situation and understandable anger. I am also very worried for the people caught in the horrible conditions that were (for whatever reason) not prepared at all for the fall out of Sandy—especially those with young children.

I will keep you in my prayers, GTV.

I am with you, there are still over 800,000 housholds here on Long Island without power and no gasoline around.

I’m looking on the bright side, 4.5 Million people in NY & NJ without power and no gasoline are not going to give a shit about voting on Tuesday (for the most part)- this could equal 2 to 3 Million less votes for 0bama.

And now BloomBUM wants to hold the marathon while Queens and Staten Island are a mess? How about hand rations to the runners to deliver to the stressed and strapped out homeowners?"""""........

When I heard this on the news this morning, I about blew my stack. What the hell are they thinking?

If those runners can as you say RUN AND HELP people, I am furious. But, then realize that RUNNERS are the most precious of ELITIST, better and smarter than anyone.

Deep down they are ugly to the bone, and don't give a RIP for anyone but themselves. DISGUSTING ELITIST BRATS.

Sorry for my rant,I am in the Midwest, but I am very concerned for all of you up there.

Obama and the Democrat and the Unions OWN THIS ONE.

Don’t apologize.

But do tell it to your liberal cohorts.

Didn’t someone once say that a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged by reality?

Maybe you can talk some sense into them.

Well, you could always go down to stay at The Mark with the Obambot 1%ers like Wintour, Jacobs et al or party with The Divine Miss M who seem to be coping quite nicely...
So did Marie Antoinette say, “ Let them hold a marathon”?

In all sincerity, I wish you the best and hope your ordeal ends soon.

Of course. Look at the 0 margin in Manhattan in the last election. Are the fools who voted for him the last time any less foolish four years later? If you know any 0 voters ask them just what was it he did in the last four years that they want to see more of done. Watch the puzzled looks as they try to answer.

A similar question was asked of a BF 0 supporter on TV and her answer was (trumpet fanfare) "We need to keep moving forward." The reporterette who asked this didn't follow up with "What do you mean by that?" The mid 20's WF who was asked why she voted for Romney answered something to the effect that R was the best bet at cutting the debt and getting the country out of the weak economy - I don't remember her exact words.
