Is this why CIA chief really resigned? Gun running to jihadists could dwarf 'Fast and Furious'...

JERUSALEM – The speculation surrounding the sudden resignation of CIA Chief General David Petraeus is focusing in large part on his role in an alleged cover-up of the attacks against the U.S. mission in Benghazi this past September.

Perhaps overlooked is the CIA’s role in purportedly using the Benghazi mission to coordinate U.S. aid to Syrian opposition groups and information those same insurgents include jihadists openly acting under the al-Qaida umbrella.

One week before he was slated to testify before Congress on the Benghazi debacle, Petraeus on Friday night announced his resignation, citing an extramarital affair, and it was reported he will no longer testify.

Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., the House Homeland Security Committee chairman, charged in an interview with CNN that Petraeus is “at the center of this, and there are answers that only he has.” King was referring to the Benghazi attacks.

Asked if he will still call for Petraeus testify despite his resignation, Rep. King replied, “Absolutely, to me, he’s an absolutely necessary witness.”

Patraeus resigned at a time when the U.S. intelligence community is facing criticism over both its response to the assault in Benghazi and whether it had early warnings of al-Qaida plans to attack the U.S. mission in that country.

The White House and multiple State Department officials had immediately blamed a crude film about the Islamic figure Mohammad for what they claimed were popular protests that preceded the attacks on the U.S. mission.

According to new, vivid accounts provided by the State Department and intelligence officials, no such popular demonstration took place the night of the attack. Instead, video footage from Benghazi reportedly shows an organized group of armed men attacking the compound, the officials said.

That Benghazi compound is repeatedly referred by the news media to as a “consulate.”

“...et Hillary’s fat a$$ to testify under OATH...”

Honestly...do you REALLY think an oath means anything to that Marxist douchebag? She’s married to a man who lied repeatedly “under oath”.

Oaths only matter to people who have honor and integrity, and who understand the relationship between your word to God and to your country.

We’re dealing with criminal behavior and conspiracy to subvert the country, by people who are masters at it.

So testify under oath? She’ll laugh at it.

Putting Hillay under oath is like asking her rapist hubby to tell the truth. You can reliably predict what you will get.An amazing array of I don't know what the “blank” you are talking about

She'll just say "I don't recall."
(It worked for her last time.)

If so, he's a dead man walking. He's a walking, but still not talking "assisted suicide" just waiting for the right moment and cover story.

If you think Petreaus is so dumb that he doesn't have a file somewhere "to be released upon my untimely death," I've got news for you.

Zero knows it.

..................
In the report, not written in a way derogatory toward the ambassador, the Serbian consulate is questioned and he alleges that Stevens’ homosexuality was common knowledge: he also says that because of it, Stevens should have been sent somewhere other than a Muslim country.
................

This one is from Breitbart. It’s one of a couple of hundred if you google up “was Chris Stevens gay.” I’m amazed that factoid seldom appears.IMHO,
this does not take away his dying for his country just a fact.In the old days true journalist printed facts, who what when where how hwy, today hard to find.

“...Petraeus has to know that his entire family and friends are in immediate jeopardy of having an accident,Chicago style, if he reveals what he knows...”

I’m sure the General has taken precautions to surround himself with American Patriots - loyal to him - to ensure that that scenario does not happen, or if it does, to ensure that an avalanche of damning intelligence and information is released.

He’s not a dumb man. He knows who the real enemy is.

Those kind of denials would not look very good in ads against her, when
Decides to run for President. And she is and will. So put her under oath anyway. It’s way pay time to rid ourselves of Hillay.

"The attack happened because Stevens stiffed the Turkish government. 0bama didn’t send in troops because he was trying to protect those retaliating against Stevens on behalf of 0bama’s BEST Friend, The President of Turkey (Erdogan)!

The first problem I have with this theory (Turkey) over the revenge killing theory (al-Libi) is that why would AQ telegraph it for weeks or even months (chatter + Stevens "need security force" emails).

al-Zawahiri wanted revenge for al-Libi -- and remember al-Libi was a terrorist who specialized in attacking embassies! -- and so they get the "Rahman Brigades" to do it as almost a cut-out, instead of AQSL->LIFG, who you would have expected as the first stringers if it had been a Turk-related arms deal gone bad.

The second problem I have with this theory is that I fully expect Bobo to try and tangle up this whole investigation by flooding the zone with various ideas of inestimable internecine warfare -- remember, they blamed the whole thing on the tape, then Romney -- rather than the truth; and the arms deal lends itself to that kind of palace intrigue, versus the hard-copy truth of the Embassy missives imploring State for enhanced protection, and the subsequent consequences of State's negligence.

Perhaps overlooked is the CIA’s role in purportedly using the Benghazi mission

What if one or more of the Doherty, Woods and Smith who were killed in Benghazi knew what was going on and that's why only two were sent to do whatever needed to be done to the whatever it was? Maybe one or more was the clean up man. Just sayin' since we had the CIA a mile away and the compound was never secured.

Benghazi

We have a history of presidential second terms that explode in a scandal lingering from the first (e.g., Watergate) or due to hubris (cf. Reagan’s with Iran-Contra, or Clinton’s with Monica) deteriorating into scandal or just fizzling out (Bush and Katrina/the Iraqi insurgency). I used to think that the Libyan crime (not beefing up security when earlier requested, not immediately sending over help from the annex, not sending in relief during the various seven hours of assaults, etc.) was dwarfed by the cover-up (by all means protect the administration narrative of Libya as success/al Qaeda as impotent/Arab Spring as wonderful/the slayer of bin Laden as cool and competent commander in chief).

Now I am not so sure. Why did we even have a consulate in a secondary port city, when most countries had pulled their embassies out of Tripoli? Why, on the night of his death, was our ambassador meeting with a Turkish diplomat in Benghazi? Who delayed our team at the airport — and why? Why was an annex, with a large CIA contingent, even nearby? Why did the annex people apparently want to keep a firewall between themselves and the consulate? Who actually were the terrorists? Who paid them and what exactly was their mission? Were we destroying the Gaddafi arsenal, or rounding it up for anonymous resale? And if so — to whom?
.................

Here are some thoughts by VDH over at PJM. Some really good questions which I think he already has the answers to as well.

WOW, you packed a lot of meat in that. Will take me some time to digest all of it. LOL

......."""Petraeus may have resigned to give the Benghazi cover-up legs."""".......

I think that is the best possibility...as well as to see that his family is heavily guarded & protected from what he knows he will hav to do next, TESTIFY..

........."""The timing of it is another thing though""""....

Lots in that second paragaph to ponder. Maybe things just happened so fast, and they blackmailed him with the affair and he was trapped, then decided "TO HELL WITH IT", my first DUTY is to my country, and "I will tell all". Which he could not do until after he resigned. jmo.

........""""But I think the country needs some no-BS answers from ALL these players.""""

There is no doubt in my mind that will happen....just my feeling. All except Hillary, who can't remember s..t!..

.....""""And Congress needs to disarm the threat of the Obama regime""""".......

Interesting to see how that happens, any thoughts? I need to go back and continue pondering your post, much insight there. Thanks

It's my understanding that Woods and Doherty were ordered to stand down(just like the admiral and the General Ham in N.Africa who was relieved of command by a Jr. officer 30 seconds after trying to help) but they disobeyed orders and proceeded to kill 60 terrorists before being targeted themselves. Probably because they used lazers to target the bad guys for an air strike that never came. ...............

KT McFarland just now with Judge Jeanine saying that Petraeus quit so he could spill the beans on the regime. I sure hope she is right,we shall see.

In the months leading up to the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, the U.S. Embassy in Libya was seeking to hire two bodyguards with “limited” English language skills at salaries of about $13,000 per year....The job descriptions explicitly stated that this included the “same-sex domestic partners” of U.S. government employees (FR thread).
