Among the eligibility requirements for immigration to the United States are these:

Job or Employment Based

People who want to become immigrants based on employment or a job offer may apply for permanent residence or an immigrant visa abroad, when an immigrant visa number becomes available according to the following employment based preferences:

First Preference: Priority Workers, including aliens with extraordinary abilities, outstanding professors and researchers, and certain multinational executives and managers Second Preference: Members of professions holding an advanced degree or persons of exceptional ability (including individuals seeking a National Interest Waiver) Third Preference: Skilled Workers, professionals and other qualified workers Fourth Preference: Certain special immigrants including those in religious vocations Fifth Preference: Employment creation immigrants (investors or entrepreneurs)

Fuhgeddaboutit

Barack Obama, seeking to swell the ranks of democrats and continuing his plot to expand dependency, is marketing the US as a place immigrants can come and enjoy the fruits of the toil of others!

Local lawmakers are fuming over an Obama administration policy promoting welfare and EBT benefits for immigrants, with a “welcome” package and promotional website that encourage new arrivals to take advantage of the nation’s generous government largesse.

“I think it’s a complete outrage that we’re encouraging people coming here to get on public assistance,” said state Rep. Shaunna O’Connell, a Taunton Republican who has fought for EBT reform. “We should be encouraging people to be self-sufficient. These programs are rampant with fraud and abuse.”

The fight over welfare for recent immigrants is unfolding in Washington, where a group of GOP senators has sent a letter to U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Thomas Vilsack demanding answers as to why food stamps and other welfare benefits are being promoted to new immigrants. The agency’s Welcome toUSA.gov website includes a comprehensive handbook directing immigrants on how to obtain food stamps, Medicare, disability and other taxpayer-funded aid.

“The federal government now is giving packets to people when they come to the United States ... that promote welfare benefits,” said U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, an Alabama Republican and ranking member of the Senate budget committee. “That is contrary to law and sound policy.”

So what does the agency have to say about it?

When my ancestors immigrated to the USA from Germany in the 1850s, they had to have land bought in the USA before they were allowed to come over. They had to be able to support themselves or they were deported. They knew no English, but they soon learned enough to make their way in the USA. That’s when our government had common sense, something totally missing today.

The Republican party won't even discuss immigration unless it's to say something mealy mouthed like "we don't condone law breaking".

And that's illegal immigration, forget about legal immigration.

Immigration has become part of the race game in the U.S. now because the immigrants now come from non-white countries.

So it's untouchable: anyone criticizing it is a racist, and the Democrat smear machine swings into action.

The hapless rubes like Rence Priebus only vaguely realize that the whole DNC game is to drown the Americans in a flood of desperate Third Worlders who will vote to loot the country.

And it's basically too late, folks. Over 50% of the newborns are now non-white.

That hasn't happened since before Washington's family emigrated from England.

The New World is being systematically destroyed on purpose. Immigration is the weapon, legal and illegal. The winners will be the self appointed Statist classes around the world: they don't seek massive wealth, just perpetual control. The perks will come later, after they can give them to themselves without anyone being able to complain.

The Soviet Union had rich people: the Nomenklatura, who rule Russia even now. They were the ultimate gang, and they brooked no opposition. But they told the peons they were on their side and the peons believed them at first....and later it was too late.

And that is what modern "immigration" is to America: an invasion of determined, hostile pawns in a Communist takeover.

And the Republicans are powerless to do anything about it, because the immigrants have the race card to trump them.

Checkmate. The RNC is reduced to babbling about "we are a nation of immigrants", and treading water as the wave slowly washes over them....into oblivion.

My ggGF came here from Ireland in 1851; another ggGF from Germany in 1854.
Neither one ever owned land, let alone met some immigration requirement to do so.
What are you referring to?

My father came from Germany, worked for land holders in Pa. to pay his passage, within 10 years, working his ass off, he learned English (a requirement), had a responsible job, and own his own house. The difference between him and a wetback was that he WANTED to be an American. To be sure, he sent money home to Germany to help his starving family, but he also took care of his family here.

Well, if old Corps was being in before McKeon and Ribbon Creek, then I guess I’m guilty. I still miss it, but I’m afraid “times, they are a’changeing.” Semper Fi

That is so true. I still remember asking the man next to me his serial number, if it was above mine, I’d ask if that was the national debt. You haven’t lived if you haven’t shaved your “battle jacket” to look “salty”, and having your DI make you send your shoes in for leather double soles and heels, with cleats and instructions on how to put a “sea going” dip in your Barracks cover. God, I loved the sound of those cleats as you strutted through a closed building. Part of the DI’s cadence was “lean back, dig them in, strut” Semper Fi

Knew about cleats and dips, but never heard of shaving your battle jacket. My DI (too) - "You're bouncing girls ... lean back and strut, strut, strut."
My claim to being salty was being issued a set of greens at PI that were "old corps" Kerseys.
First IG I stood w/ 13th Marines I was told in no uncertain terms to "survey those &$!#!&* horse blankets."
Ended up earning my "salt" up on the DMZ.

Been there, done that, as they say. Just another exotic place that the recruiter promised. My saddest day was when they stopped issuing herringbone dungarees, have one set of salties to be buried in, if I can fit them. I did like the jungle utes and boots and the cammies were a lot cooler than the herringbone cammies I had. How long did you put in? I stayed for 22 years, went in a Pvt, retired as a Chief Marine Gunner 3. My son put in 8 years with 2nd Recon as a scout/ sniper and is now working in Afghanistan. Semper fi
