MITT WASN’T ALL WRONG ABOUT ‘GIFTS’

By: Patrick J. Buchanan 11/20/2012 “What the president’s campaign did was focus on certain members of his base coalition, give them extraordinary financial gifts from the government and then work very aggressively to turn them out to vote, and that strategy worked.”

Thus did political analyst Mitt Romney identify the cause of his defeat in a call to disconsolate contributors.

Republicans piled on. “Completely unhelpful,” Gov. Bobby Jindal told Wolf Blitzer. We don’t advance the “debate by insulting folks.”

“A terrible thing to say,” Chris Christie told Joe Scarborough. “You can’t expect to be the leader of all the people and be divisive.”

Oh. Was not Abe Lincoln at least mildly “divisive”? Did not FDR insult Wall Street folks by calling them “money changers in the temple of our civilization”? Was Ronald Reagan a uniter not a divider when he said, “Let the bloodbath begin!” and mocked “welfare queens”?

And Harry Truman, did he not insult and divide — and win?

“I just think it’s nuts,” Newt Gingrich told ABC’s Martha Raddatz of Romney’s remark, kicking him again in an Austin TV interview:

“Gov. Romney’s analysis … is insulting and profoundly wrong. … We didn’t lose Asian-Americans because they got any gifts. He did worse with Asian-Americans than he did with Latinos. This is the hardest-working and most successful ethnic group in America, OK, they ain’t into gifts.”

Most of them do not share the Judeo-Christian value system. Thus when Obama says “We are not a Christian nation” this is music to their ears. They go to do their own rituals, traditions, language and except for work, live in suburban ghettos not unlike the Muslims. Just try Palmdale and Lancaster in S. California.

Of course he did. Those Repubicans are just trying to cover their own arses. You never hear the DEMS doing things like this. Instead, they circle the wagons around even the most immoral of their base. Not our side, no sireee! Pile on and have the pundits repeat every word they say. No wonder we are called the party of stupid. Our side has much to learn from the marxists.

I think Santa has more ‘oomph’. Maybe Rush can re-work his quote to include a lump of coal.

You are correct. While very hard working Orientals look upon every government program as an opportunity to increase wealth. Well off Chinese in San Francisco diligently work to ‘reunite’ families by bringing parents and grand parents and uncles and aunts to the US. Once here these folks are identified as ‘destitute’ and sign up for general relief and Medicaid. If they have any health problems or can plausibly claim one they begin the process for SSI. As with the Hispanics the US is not seen as a land of opportunity as it once was presented to immigrants but a land of opportunities to get government money. That along with the rotten public education system that teaches the inmates to (a) despise the cruel racist bullying USA and (b) to look upon the state as the source of economic salvation is the big psychological difference in the current immigrant experience and the classic one. New arrivals are taught to look on the US as a source of loot that one has no real allegiance too. That is just one of the many things the libs and the Rats have done to our country. Gingrich is just another Beltway insider who doesn't recognize what is being done to his country because he can live in the bubble in DC and ignore all the destructive social trends that the Rats he associates with every day are doing to us.

Flawed or not, that quote has caused a lot of fur to fly, since he made it.

Even though we always get any refunds by auto bank deposit, 2 days before the election in the mail was a letter from IRS “we found a mistake in your 2011 tax return” and a gubmit check for $25. It might as well had nobama logo on it.

By the way we did not have any $25 error on the 2011 return.

I’ll bet that 95% of freeloaders will vote for the other guy’s taxes to increase to pay for his goodies.

“You can’t expect to be the leader of all the people and be divisive.”

Well - I guess Obama isn’t the “leader of all the people” then; ‘cause he’s sure divisive. That comment makes anyone who utters it look dishonest and unable to see what’s right in front of their nose!

The Republican politicians who rushed to distance themselves from Romney's accurate comments regarding Obama essentially buying votes with taxpayer money are now dead to me, including that self-promoter, Newt Gingrich. Bobby Jindal has been a disappointment for some time and Chris Christie was always a RINO and never considered anything close to a conservative.

The problem we all face is that the socialist model doesn't work as more and more takers live off of fewer and fewer makers. Former U.K. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher said it well: "The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money."

I believe that “asian” includes an insanely increasing number of people from India. I know my company is dragging them in.

They are raving socialists, all.

They won't admit it because to all politicians openly criticizing the taxpayer spoils system is as close as you can come to sacrilege in their minds.

On the bright side, paying attention to who in the GOP Romney's comments outrage neatly identifies phony 'conservatives' in our party. They are statists in drag.

if the GOP does not find some way to stigmatize reliance on public largess as it once was they will never win another national election.

It's not the GOP's to do.

It is a culture of self reliance that needs to be rekindled in America, with someone like Reagan saying come along with me on our grander vision of America.

Can't do that with the education system FUBAR'd by the Uber Commies for the last 40 years, and this is from a Big 10 Prof that got to see it happening before he retired.

They played us, they won, and I am afraid to say it but I think it is over...

On the subject of “free stuff” effecting the election:

1. Exactly how many “Obamaphones” were put into the hands of the Democrat’s base voters?
2. Were these phones part of the Dem’s “ground game”?

Has anyone seen info on either question? I suspect that this redistribution program has become, by design, a significant part of the Dem’s get-out-the-vote operation.

Free handouts to those that never wanted to work again was huge. Welfare including food stamps gave most of these freeloaders more money than a paycheck could when you consider they eliminate income tax and the cost of going to work. Corrupt business received billions which purchased more voters. Add voter fraud by most of these purchased voters and businesses, what did we expect. COMMUNISM.

Mitt might have been wrong on a number of things, but on this declaration he was absolutely correct. His critics are delusional and demonstrative of political correctness. In other words the critics are full of crap.
