Movie Violence Can Overwhelm Children (It's Not Guns...It's Hollywood, Stupid)

Many scientific studies have established the connection between exposure to media violence and aggression and violence in children. For example, playing video games can lead to changes in attitudes and behavior as well as desensitization to actual violence.

“We know so much about the harmful effects of exposure to violent media content, but how much exposure children actually get has been largely ignored. Now, we’re learning more about the large numbers of kids seeing this material and who they are,” says Worth.

The author is incorrect. Our society has put so little value on life that we’re shocked at such an event. We coddle criminals when we should punish them harshly. Instead of working to find solutions to the problems of the mentally ill, we cover the symptoms up with drugs that seem to induce homicidal tendancies in them. We drug our children because doctors find something, no matter how small it may be to try to prescribe something to our kids.

We must begin to put more value on the lives of people. This includes children, born and unborn and the elderly. We must stop coddling criminals make them fear punishment.

We must eliminate so called “gun free zones” that enable criminals to commit mass murder while victims that follow the laws are slaughtered.

Our society is going down the wrong road. The unintended consequences of the liberal left has been instrumental in bringing these tragedies to our doorstep.

If I were a parent of a child at that school. I’d jam my boot up the back side of every politician I could find because they and their gun free zones BS are why those kids died. No one had a gun except the murderer. Of course, the left thinks that the gun free zone would be obeyed by criminals. I can’t fathom being that stupid to believe that.

The blood of those children are on the hands of the left. Our Government needs to stop trying to strip our Rights away. We’re not going to keep letting you do it. You’ve been warned. They need to instead, enable teachers, parents, administrators to be able to defend our children.

There is no excuse. The Government has been warned by the GOA, NRA, other groups that the short sightedness of these defense free killing zones would lead to this and worse.

Every elected official should be ashamed of themselves for not eliminating these stupid laws that have ended up killing so many innocent people over the years.

That some of these same people want more gun control absolutely disgusts me. It won’t do anything to save our children, it will only make them more vulnerable to future attacks.

Here is what I wrote earlier today.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2968983/posts?page=81#79

After the murder of Bobby Kennedy, the blame was laid on violent TV shows, comic books, pulp magazines and movies.

Comic books changed their story lines. TV shows dumbed down to kiddie shows, pulp magazines toned down their covers, but them MOVIE INDUSTRY said they would police themselves.

A rating system would work! G M R X! Yes! That would do it!

HOT DA*N the HAYS code is dead! Produce’m boys!

The result was the most vile sex and blood films ever to come out of Hollywood. Produce an R rated movie for adults, market it to pre-teens! That was the way!

Addendum: Today’s TV shows and comics, are 100 times worse than anything in 1968.

I’ve seen it first hand when a mentally disturbed youth caused problems. It was all about the thrill.

He never contemplated how it would affect others, only the thrill to him. He could not comprehend why he was punished for his actions as they only (in his minds eye) gave him a thrill.

Movie and tv violence might work adversely on already disturbed individuals. But as a person who saw countless tv westerns and cop shows as a kid with numerous bad guys shot by the good guys, I doubt exposure to movie and tv violence affects normal people in a bad way. There were no video games then, but I knew at the age of seven that picking up a gun and shooting innocent people was evil. Like the other mass killers, the shooter in Connecticut was mentally deranged. He should have been institutionalized.

Hollywood banned smoking in movies cause it might cause some kid to smoke, but murder, torture, rape, cussing etc is OK Kids won’t immitate that...they are a joke and need to cut down a bit and told to not include those subjects also....that would end the problem with Hollywood...
