Liberal Hate Speech Over Gun Control
Political Realities ^ | 12/21/12 | LD Jackson

hate speechI really thought I would be writing about something else today, but since I began reading some of the news and information websites I frequent, I couldn't pass this one up. Remember how the liberals are always accusing conservatives of hate speech? No matter what we say, or how civil we try to say it, if we disagree with their viewpoint on any particular subject, they level the charge of hate speech. Sarah Palin was even accused of fostering an environment that led to the shooting in Arizona, all over an election map that included bullseyes. In that light, I would like to bring to you a few examples of some of the words and phrases being used by liberals, in their effort to use the terrible tragedy in Newton for their political advantage.

(Human Events) Exhibit A is Piers Morgan of CNN, who appears to have gone utterly mad since the Newtown shooting. He claimed it was possible to by AR-15 assault rifles in supermarkets, ignoring repeated requests from more rational commentators to name the remarkable supermarket he’s been shopping at. On Tuesday, he went berserk on the air and got into a shouting match with guest Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America. (He called Pratt an "unbelievably stupid man".)

Some of this can be dismissed as grandstanding for ratings, but it’s not just Morgan. Author Joyce Carol Oates wished NRA members would get shot, so they might finally give up their damnable Second Amendment rights… and insisted she wasn’t speaking “ironically.” She also mused that a lot of “gun accidents” might not be so accidental after all, broadly accusing thousands of Americans who disagree with her of being murderers.

University of Rhode Island history teacher Erik Loomis launched into a profane tirade that accused the National Rifle Association of being a “terrorist organization” and called for the CEO’s “head on a stick,” although he did later try to claim he was speaking ironically, after being rebuked by his university.

Chris Matthews even joined in the fray, which is nothing unusual for him.
(Human Events) Matthews suggested gun owners are, “..people on the far-right (who) never lose their passion…Normal people have other interests like their spouses, their lives, their children, and even their generalized politics isn’t driven by one issue,” he said.
So, it's okay for an individual's politics to be driven by one issue, as long as it isn't gun control, or some other conservative position. I have news for Mr. Matthews. I am a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment and the right of an individual to keep and bear arms. I believe that right safeguards our country from tyranny. I also have a life that I enjoy. I spend time with my wife, my children and grandchildren, my friends, my church, my music, etc. Just because I happen to own a few guns and believe strongly in the 2nd Amendment doesn't mean I only have time to focus on that. His characterization is completely wrong and misguided.

Of course, the standard liberal backtracking has been applied in all of these cases. The liberals in question claim they were being ironic, or speaking metaphorically. The thing is, if these comments had been made by conservatives, albeit on another subject, such as homosexuality, said conservatives would be in tar and feathers by now. Instead, liberals are given a pass for the rhetoric they are using. If someone is moved to violence against gun owners, or the organizations that help protect our 2nd Amendment rights, I wonder if charges will be pending under the hate speech laws liberals seem to be so fond of? I won't be holding my breath for that to happen.

It is good for the left to be afraid of us, and our passion. We need to fight hard, and deliver a political defeat to them in 2014 that creates a check against the slide into totalitarianism.
