Here's the Audio of the NY Gov. Talking Gun Control: 'Confiscation Could Be an Option'
The Blaze ^ | 12/21/12 | Becket Adams

Posted on 12/21/2012 11:55:31 AM PST by Nachum

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (D-N.Y.) said Thursday that all options, including confiscation and “mandatory sales to the state,” would be on the table next month when the New York State Legislature debates new gun control measures. The comments were specifically aimed at what might happen should stricter rules be imposed on “assault” weapons and high-capacity magazines.

The governor said he plans on proposing a package of gun legislation in his State of the State address on Jan. 9.

“There’s a big difference of opinion on these issues,” Gov. Cuomo said today during a radio interview with Albany’s WGDJ-AM.

Mr. Cuomo explained that because gun control hasn’t been a recent topic of discussion in the capital, he has chosen to reach out to lawmakers to see where they stand on the issue before he submits his final proposal.

What?

No "federal control is the highest authority?"

Why, that just reeks of states rights.

As I’ve said on other threads, this is the left presenting an extreme position to shock the citizenry so that when they propose their real legislation, we all breathe a collective sigh of relief that they are only banning most of the guns, not all.

We must return their attack with an overwhelming counter-attack.

The infringement of the 2nd Amendment protection on gun ownership (put in place with over 700 gun-restricting laws), HAS FAILED. Obammie the Commie wants to continue the SAME FAILED GUN POLICIES OF THE PAST 40 YEARS.

GUN PROHIBITION DOES NOT WORK.

Hardly.

As long as they keep making such profoundly stupid statements they will have to start arming themselves as besides all the crooks out there, they are pi$$ing off a lot of people.

Everyone that carries, legally or illegally (matter of opinion), is not as easy going and even tempered as you and I.
And I am not completely sure about ‘you’. <: <:

If Cuomo makes an attempt to violate the fundamental, God-given constitutional rights of 47% of his state’s citizens, I will not be cheering for those state employees who are immoral enough to follow such orders. When things turn ugly, my sympathies will be entirely with those fighting for freedom. It has been 147 years and 226 days since the end of our first civil war. I hope Cuomo is in no hurry to trigger a second one.

Exactly how would they go about confiscating guns? Search everyone’s home? Lock people up if they are on record for having purchased a gun but have not turned them in. Seems like an exercise in futility.

“[Assault weapons’] menacing looks, coupled with the public’s confusion over fully-automatic machine guns versus semi- automatic assault weapons —anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun— can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons.” Josh Sugarmann, executive director of New Right Watch, spokesman for the National Coalition to Ban Handguns, “Assault Weapons and Accessories in America,” policy report of New Right Watch and the Education Fund to End Handgun Violence, September 1988
“Our main agenda is to have all guns banned. We must use whatever means possible. It does not matter if you have to distort facts or even lie.”
-Sarah Brady, Handgun Control, Inc., The National Educator, January, 1994

“If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an out right ban, picking up every one of them... ‘Mr. and Mrs. America, turn ‘em all in,’ I would have done it. I could not do that. The votes weren’t here.”-Dianne Feinstein, Senator, CBS-TV’s “60 Minutes,” February 5, 1995

“Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of the citizen to keep and bear arms. This is not to say that firearms should not be very carefully used and that definite rules of precaution should not be taught and enforced. But the right of the citizen to bear arms is just one more safeguard against a tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible.” - Hubert Humphrey(bitter clinger), 1960

“Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.”- William Pitt, 1783

“Gun bans don’t disarm criminals, gun bans attract them.”- Walter Mondale, U.S. Ambassador to Japan(bitter clinger), April 20, 1994

Exclude DC,Chicago,LA, Philly, E.St.louis & Baltimore and we’d probably have the gun murder rate of Switzerland.

Create the “crisis , then claim you “solved” it.

****”Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (D-N.Y.) said Thursday that all options, including confiscation...”****

That has been their plan for the last 50 years.

Founder of Handgun Control, Inc.

“I’m convinced that we have to have federal legislation to build on. We’re going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily — given the political realities — going to be very modest. Of course, it’s true that politicians will then go home and say, ‘This is a great law. The problem is solved.’ And it’s also true that such statements will tend to defuse the gun-control issue for a time.

So then we’ll have to strengthen that law, and then again to strengthen that law, and maybe again and again. Right now, though, we’d be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice. Our ultimate goal — total control of handguns in the United States — is going to take time.

My estimate is from seven to ten years. The problem is to slow down the increasing number of handguns sold in this country.

The second problem is to get them all registered. And the final problem is to make the possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition — except for the military, policemen, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors — totally illegal.”

-Pete Shields, Chairman and founder, Handgun Control Inc., “A Reporter At Large: Handguns,” The New Yorker, July 26, 1976, 57-58

“Yes, I’m for an outright ban [on handguns].”

-Pete Shields, Chairman emeritus, Handgun Control, Inc., 60 Minutes interview

O.K., let's just play this out. Coumo orders confiscation. He sends out armed agents/officers to do it. Law abiding citizen refuses to have legally purchased private property and Constitutionally protected right stolen by said agents. Agents threaten law abiding citizen with arrest/fines/confinement for resisting. Law abiding citizen sites Constitutional and case law to agents and politely says, "No" and closes door on agents. Agents storm door shooting citizen with tax payer supplied weapons that only they are permitted to attain. End of Republic. What am I missing?

Confiscation attempts will lead to the deaths of a lot of people trying to confiscate guns. Is it worth dying to deny me RKBA? I think it’s worth dying to defend. Think hard about that Cuomo. You’re desire for dictatorship is going to end up getting a lot of people killed on both sides that don’t deserve it.

This is how I think they will do it. They will convince people to turn in their guns voluntarily. The hold outs, and there will be many, will be pressured into doing voluntarily using high taxation, banning ammo, cleaning supplies and other items. They will fill false charges of child endangerment and public nuance. They will use guilt and peer pressure to force “voluntary” compliance. They may jail some with harsh sentences as an example but I believe the real plan is to convince the people to basically cut their own throats for the good of the country.

I think you are correct. The boiling the frog strategy has really worked for the left in so many ways. They would overplay their hand with a sudden, draconian seizure or mandatory turn in. However, Cuomo may be trying to spark violence so he can crush it and justify even more authoritarian actions.

We should go to the original definition of assault rifle, The Sturmgewehr 44. It was a selective fire weapon and paved the way for Kalashnikov’s fine tuning in 47. They were automatic weapons as was the M2Carbine. A semi auto is not by any definition an assault weapon. In NYS the definition includes pistol grip, bayonet lug, and folding stock. Any one of those is allowed. TNT Gunnery in Wantagh NY was charged with after market folding stock additions a few months back. The Ruger mini 14 has never been used by any military in the world yet it is now considered an assault rifle as will the ruger .40 cal carbine. The left will stretch the definition to include any weapon that is not bolt or lever action and carries more than five rounds. They will say that’s all any hunter needs. Confiscation is coming.

It’s apparently not even legal here to instruct someone on how to bump fire. As a freeper once memorably said, the New York State gunshop owner who was fined for this suffered a real first: the abrogating of his 1st Amendment and 2nd Amendment rights at the same time.

Questions for Governor Andrew M. Cuomo:

1. Who's going to do your confiscation?
2. How many New Yorkers are you willing to kill who oppose your confiscations?
3. Do you pay NY law enforcement enough to die for your policies?
4. Do you and your political hacks have the guts to do your own “wet work”?
