Now that I’m in my sixties, I guess I am.

But hey, when B.T. appeared in that commercial, he was 25 years older than I am now. There’s still time. To do what, I don’t know. I retired last year but I’ll let someone else climb Mt. Everest or explore Machu Picchu as the oldest to do so. There’s too much to do locally as it is.

Pouring a nice glass of Tennessee bourbon, for example, & raising a toast to Gen. Robert E. Lee. More meaningful & doesn’t require a travel agent. But my wife wants to see Venice, so I need to renew my combat drownproofing certificate. Saying “Why should I travel? I’m already here” doesn’t work & only earns me The Look.

;^)

Sir, with respect, you are mistaken about this. Different substances have different biochemical effects within our bodies. Check out the video linked in Post 16, which is long and discusses the biochemistry, or this brief, popular, simplified version. The Skinny on Obesity #1

I’m overweight, too, just not as much as I used to be. Women I know at the gym now tell me that I look good. This kind of diet actually works. Eat as much as you want of meat, veggies and eggs. :-)

It's never been about What you eat it's how many calories you take in vs. burn off. I don't care what this article says, it's simple math!

They measure the calories in food by burning it and measuring the heat given off. People are not furnaces. There are empty calories in all foods. . . And there are non-digestible calories in much of it. . . And human fat is not dietary fat. We make our own. . . And it is NOT made out of calories.

Before anyone can lose weight, they have to put themselves into ketosis, and start burning fat, not readiy available carbohydrates. Feed the body carbs, and the body never needs to go to the fat stored for energy.

So, no, Sirchtruth, it is NOT simple math. All calories are not equally digestible. Try eating 5000 calories of sawdust and see how much weight you gain. Human beings make their own fat not from fat they in jest or from calories the take in, but from carbohydrates they injest by use of insulin in the Krebs cycle. Learn a little about it before you spout pseudo science about diet.

A recent study in which dieters were fed equal caloric dietary intakes of low fat, low protein, or low carb diets. At the end of the test, they found the group on the low carb diet had lost weight twice as fast and had lost far more weight than either of the other two groups. . . And the low carb group had lower blood pressures and better regulated blood sugar and blood lipids levels than before the diets started. The other groups did not show any improvements in BP or Lipids.

I know what i'm talking about. 120 pound weight loss in two years without being hungry, due to knowledgible use of the Krebs cycle. Went from a 54" waist to a 40" waist without exercising —I have a very bad back. My girlfriend (243 lbs weight loss and kept it off for eight years, Registered Nurse, CCM, Dietary Expert) and I are workiing on a soon to be publishing cookbook with of low carb recipes including bread with just 5 grams of carbs per slice that looks, tastes, and feels like normal bread, cheesecake with 125 calories per full 1/8 cake slice, 15 grams carbs per slice including whipped cream topping and chocolate ganache topping or other fruit topping(!) that our friends cannot tell is not a Cheesecake Factory 900 calorie load of poison. . . and other similar delights to keep the low carb lifestyle interesting.

So your statement that you can eat anything you want and maintain your weight is wrong... Totally.

I appreciate your take and with all do respect to you, even though I understand biochemical effects affect the body mass and storage, this still does not negate the FACT of caloric intake vs burn. If your heart is beating you are burning calories.

If you take in more calories some part of your body's girth will expand.

Sorry, can't watch vidoe, still in dino-dialup mode living in the stix!

So, no, Sirchtruth, it is NOT simple math. All calories are not equally digestible.

Your missing the point. I said it's about calorie intake vs. BURN. Of course lower starch carbs are better, but if your not eating protein for ENERGY to crank up metabolism then you do not BURN calories.

You don't eat starch carbs because why? They have more calories! duh! Protein, Starch, Fiber this is the proper way to eat and with everybody it's different on the balance of each in a meal.

My whole reason for posting this is not about losing weight as much as it's about changing eating habits and lifestyle change. (Which will increase weight loss) It has to happen because of metabolic rate slow down. You will most likely not burn as many calories when your 35 vs. 20 unless there is an imbalance somewhere. Like oh, say sitting home all day playing video games.

If you lost a hundred and 120 lbs then about 2/10th of that was WATER weight!

I not at all disputing your claim, however I'm not wrong. I know exactly what I'm talking about...YOU CAN EAT "ANYTHING" AND MAINTAIN YOUR WEIGHT with proper intake and exercise!

Interesting, I don't see any statement from you about exercise, do you exercise regularly?

Holy Moly! I reread my post 68. Sorry for the UNedited version! Plus, I want to add some things.

Went from a 54" waist to a 40" waist without exercising —I have a very bad back.

I'm telling you, all you did to accomplish this was change your eating habit. You ate LESS calories.

Partly right. and party B.S. However, this makes perfect sense. Low STARCH carb diets might cause quicker weight loss however, they also cause imbalances to the overall dietary structure your body needs to maintain proper health.

The overall point where people get hung up on is "weight loss." In order to regulate weight we need to be talking about a lifestyle dietary change which goes beyond just what and how much you eat.

Since you've been on your low carb diet have you lost anymore weight? If not, why not?

Thanks. Well, I guess I’ve started off on the wrong foot already. Was eating a slice of whole wheat toast topped with almond butter and low sugar strawberry spread, and had it about finished when I read your reply. - I like meat, veggies and eggs, so that’s not bad. :o) Twinkie
