Following the Newtown massacre there has been an outcry from the left for more and tougher gun laws. Sen. Dianne Feinstein has proposed another assault weapons ban with more teeth than the previous ban. Exactly what are consequences of tough gun laws? Let us construct a hypothetical place with some strict gun laws:
Let's regulate the sale, possession and use of firearms.
Let's regulate ammunition.
Let's insist that those possessing firearms have a Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card.
Let's ban automatic firearms, short-barreled shotguns and short-barreled rifles.
Let's ban assault weapons.
Let's ban magazines that can hold more than 10 or 12 rounds of ammunition.
Let's deny gun ownership to those who have been convicted of a felony or an act of domestic violence, are the subject of an order of protection, have been convicted of assault or battery or been a patient in a mental institution within the last five years, have been adjudicated as a mental defective, or are illegal immigrants.
For want of a better name, let's call a place with gun laws like this- Chicago. Now let's see what might happen were these to go into effect nationally.
The national murder rate was 4.7 per 100,000 in the US in 2011.
Nationally there were 14,612 homicides in 2011.

Turning America into a “”gun free” school zone is a bad idea
Why don’t we show a picture of young Jewish kids in Hitler’s death camps. I understand that gun control was in force there in Germany!
I think the big eared kenyan SOB has kicked a hornets nest and doesnt even know it yet.
I visited a huge gun store in my southwestern city today. First time for me since the Sandy Hook murders were exploited by the blood dancers.
I was shocked like never before. It was utterly different than the Clinton assault rifle ban days. The store looked like a swarm of locusts had come through. Only a few tired 50 year old sporters, antiques, shotguns and a few revolvers were left. NO magazines of any kind, and ammo was almost gone. They were rationing out ammo a box at a time to buyers so everyone could get a few of the remaining rounds.
Rattled, i went to another store just to see how bad it was. They also have an indoor range. It was the same story, only worse. All the rifles and pistols were gone. All the ammo was gone. The range was filled on all lanes, and 6 parties were waiting in line for their turn.
Everyone was a little pissed off. Polite to each other, with grim nods to strangers to say hi, holding doors for someone carrying something, etc. But there was a perceptable and unmistakable anger in the air.
People arent plunking down hard earned money for something they intend to turn in a month or two from now. Something feels different. Defiance is floating around.
People are flat pissed off. The politicians had better take fair warning, apologize and never go this route again. I think any moves to register or confiscate or interfere with private sales will likely be met by violence. Just a feeling i get. I defy anyone to belly up to a gun counter and listen for 5 minutes and see if you dont get the same vibe.
This is bad bad bad,,, Obama has already gone too far.
Unfortunately, many of us said the same thi,g during the Chick Fil-A protest.

I agree. Its a grim determination like you see in people preparing for battle. This isn’t like 1994. In 1994, the President was a liberal, but he was still an American. This time, the stupid people have elected a foreign marxist muslim and then re-elected him. Now, he thinks that all his worries are over because he doesn’t face another election.
Mussolini and Ceausescu thought their worries were over too.
There area lot of those folks here on FR.
If you can take their rights it's just a matter of time before they can justify, with popular support, taking yous.
That Newtown crime happened in Conneticult. The gun laws are amongst the strictest in the nation.
The guns WERE registered, to his mom. Where did she keep them? No mention of them being locked up.
It would look like Newtown.
Feinstein’s plan is much worse than the last assault weapons ban. She wants registration and background checks on all owners which has never been done. It sounds like she wants to make owning any of her unfavorite weapons the same as owning a Class III weapon.
It’ll look just like the UK, Australia, NZ, etc. Only the street gangs will have the guns.

I don’t know. I went to the Columbus (OH) gun show today and it was packed. But if we’re counting on the revolution to be led by the people I saw there, good luck with that. Most would be lucky to run 25 yards without gasping for breath. BTW, everything was jacked up twice its value. I’ll wait until these folks lose their jobs or need some cigarette money and then buy their ARs for what they’re really worth.
look up 4th generation warfare—it will be a guerrilla war of intelligence not numbers how did sperior numbers and weapons work out in any revolt or civil war? will you get on the train peacefully or give up your guns without a fight? the key to not being enslaved is recognizing the threat before they can act and take away your methods of self defense, and based on the last 4 years gun and ammo sales, the people recognize the threat and are prepared to fight it...they arent buying guns and ammo to hang on their wall or go duck hunting...
My only point is there is little fight in the people I saw. More likely to be recruited to Uncle Sam’s side with some food and cash payments.
