If They Come for Your Guns, Do You Have a Responsibility to Fight?
The D.C. Clothesline ^ | 3 January 2013 | Dean Garrison

Posted on 01/09/2013 10:39:39 AM PST by Windflier

The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government. -Thomas Jefferson

Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence … From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to insure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable . . . the very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that is good. -George Washington

The Constitution shall never be construed….to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms. -Samuel Adams

I could find hundreds of quotes like these. This country was built on the right to bear arms. It was built on the rights of an individual to bear arms, regardless of what his government or neighbor happened to think. This is crystal clear. Ironically the people who voice their opinions against this right have their free speech protected by your guns. Without guns in this country, all other amendments become null and void, simply because “We the People” will lose our power of enforcement.

We need to keep this in mind as our “representatives” try to push gun bans. I don’t care if 99% of people are in support of gun bans (which is far from the case), it is a violation of our constitutional rights, plain and simple.

A constitutional republic protects the rights of the individual even when their ideas are very much in the minority. If I were the only person in America who believed in the 2nd amendment, I would still be within my rights to call upon it. You would all think I was insane and possibly celebrate if I was gunned down, but in the end I would be the only true American among us.

Our framers were very clear on this. If my government comes to take my guns, they are violating one of my constitutional rights that is covered by the 2nd amendment.

It is not my right, at that point, but my responsibility to respond in the name of liberty. What I am telling you is something that many are trying to soft sell, and many others have tried to avoid putting into print, but I am going to say it. The time for speaking in code is over.

If they come for our guns then it is our constitutional right to put them six feet under. You have the right to kill any representative of this government who tries to tread on your liberty. I am thinking about self-defense and not talking about inciting a revolution. Re-read Jefferson’s quote. He talks about a “last resort.” I am not trying to start a Revolt, I am talking about self-defense. If the day for Revolution comes, when no peaceful options exist, we may have to talk about that as well. None of us wants to think about that, but please understand that a majority can not take away your rights as an American citizen. Only you can choose to give up your rights.

Congress could pass gun ban legislation by a 90%+ margin and it just would not matter. I think some people are very unclear on this. This is the reason we have a Supreme Court, and though I do not doubt that the Supreme Court can also become corrupt, in 2008 they got it right. They supported the Constitution. It does not matter what the majority supports because America is not a democracy. A constitutional republic protects the rights of every single citizen, no matter what their “elected servants” say. A majority in America only matters when the Constitution is not in play.

I just wrote what every believer in the Constitution wants to say, and what every constitutional blogger needs to write. The truth of the matter is that this type of speech is viewed as dangerous and radical or subversive, and it could gain me a world of trouble that I do not want. It is also the truth. To make myself clear I will tell you again. If they come for your guns it is your right to use those guns against them and to kill them. You are protected by our Constitution.

The first SWAT team that has to surrender and walk home in their underwear will be a powerful message to LEOs everywhere.

I love this idea. I’ll have to remember it and put it to use provided I’m not in a FEMA camp and unable to use it.

I don't think that Obama, et al. want to risk outright confrontations on a mass scale.

There could be an executive branch FCC "Fairness Doctrine" approach.. made possible first by de facto registration of all guns in that it could be declared that each gun owned by a citizen is now "registered."

If the left thinks they can get away with any sort of infringement on our 2nd Amendment rights in this information age, they've got another think coming. The people are far too well-informed to sit still for even the most harmless looking edicts in this area.

Citizens on the center-right have been in a state of alarm at everything this president has done over the last four years, and are now literally holding their breath about what his next dictatorial move will be. If he even breathes the wrong way, he could ignite a conflagration in this country.

Once the match is lit, the thing will run its course, because no one will be able to put it out. When all is said and done, there will be a reset of our constitutional republic, and a permanent ban on left-liberalism in this country. The leaders on the left aren't stupid. They know this, and will either back off this completely, or go all in.

We shall see.

“Do you really want to kill some cop or military member that may have a family and is just obeying his CO?”

Think he’ll hesitate to kill you?

I don’t think in terms of killing people. I don’t want to kill anyone. But I will uphold my Constitution and Law and Order.

I have been making this prediction for a long, long time.

Because this country is so badly is divided, most likely there will be a civil war or revolution.

The rhetoric being communicated by this administration, combined now with such reckless statements coming from Biden and other politicians, is setting in motion a dangerous course of action that government was never intended or allowed to contemplate under our Constitution. The semi-automatic rifle in any configuration is the same weapon protected by the 2nd amendment as was the musket carried by every citizen, the militia, and the Continental Army when it was ratified. Imagine if at the end of the Revolutionary war the Congress had not ratified the 2nd amendment in the Bill of Rights and attempted to have the Continental Army disarm the citizens. The nation would have ended quickly and or the Army would have disbanded and the States would still be a confederation and not a nation. For the entire history of our nation up through WWII the common American was better armed and more equipped than the standing military when it came to infantry rifles. There is no difference today when you talk about attempting to regulate or confiscate AR-15’s or any other type of semi-automatic rifle or ray gun of the future for that matter. So, what was the difference in 1776? It was the people and their faith, and their morals, and their quest for liberty and defense of freedom and defiance of tyranny. We now have a populace that does not understand those values nor share those qualities and wants to regulate every single aspect of our lives from conception to the grave to a large measure in large cities, but not the majority yet across the whole nation.

So now, the autocratic tyrants wish to disarm those of us who will not go quietly into the night as we still believe in and are willing to sacrifice and die to preserve the Constitution and rule of law founded upon in the beginning of America. Back in the beginning it was just a handful, maybe less than 10% that really risked anything to fight the British. What was the difference in 1770? The civilian population made a stand and organized starting from Concord and Lexington and gave the fledgling Congress time to organize an army. This stopped the British from disarming the people and gave time to organize a standing army. So if a tyrannical government in 2013 without first amending the Constitution to abolish the 2nd amendment, and doing so without States consent, attempts to defy our laws and confiscate weapons, what are the citizens to do?

The answer is to organize as we did in in 1770. To band together with a pledge to stand together or hang alone. In 2013 this would require gun friendly states to pass legislation preventing the federal government from taking civilian semi-auto rifles. In these states you could set up organizations for civilians to join as likeminded individuals with pledges to come to the aid of anyone the federal government attempted to disarm. Some states have anti militia laws attempting to prevent free men from banding together. You could form groups that share contact information that link up communication with other groups that pledge to up hold and defend the Constitution and to come to the aid of anyone threatened by confiscation. There are peaceful ways to set up and organize without breaking existing state laws banning militias in order to defend the ownership of arms protected by the 2nd amendment. It is time for our own rhetoric to be heard.

I have been making this prediction for a long, long time. Because this country is so badly is divided, most likely there will be a civil war or revolution.

I was reminded of that very thing while talking long distance to my (very liberal) dad a few days back. When we talk, we can't help but get onto the subject of current events, and no matter the issue, he perfectly parrots the left-wing talking points. Naturally, I pop every balloon he sends up, but after a while, it's exhausting.

In our last conversation, I finally had to tell him that I had to quit. There's just no use in talking about anything related to politics, because we're simply at opposite ends of the spectrum.

We're never going to agree on politics. Our positions are hardened like granite, and neither of us is going to budge. Things haven't been this bad since members of my family fought on opposite sides of the Civil War (brother vs brother).

There is nothing improving the dialogue. It's just getting worse with each passing month. That doesn't bode well for the peace of the country in the near future.

I think that Abe would agree with you.

The "match [has been] lit" and the "crisis [has] been reached."

I am fond of quoting Abe and what he might say this time..

You initiated a policy to tolerate the Marxist-Alinsky radicals and let them rant; not only has it not ceased but was constantly augmented by decades of infiltration and indoctrination. You now have two Americas. In my opinion, it will not cease until a crisis shall have been reached and passed. . . I do not expect the house to fall; but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing, or all the other.

If the Obama regime elects to inflict some sort of curtailment of 2nd Amendment rights through executive fiat, I think we can expect for the Governors and legislatures of many states to respond with bold resistance, such as what you've suggested.

If that's all that occurs, the regime and the left should consider themselves lucky. They're mighty close to igniting something that no one will have to power to extinguish.

Not according to the Bible.

Well, if the jackboots ever come for your guns, you'll face a moment of choosing. If your beliefs compel you to stand down, so be it. I'll not argue with anyone over their religious take on this question.

Some have commented on the difficulty debating current issues, right vs. left. I am wont to post this..

I remember them. You cannot debate these people. They have been treated virtually as gods..

the 1960s Marxist-Alinsky campus radical, psycho spoiled brats were celebrated in the establishment MSM as the most intelligent generation ever!. They are now arguably that very establishment that praised them and they hold themselves and their ideological issue in even higher regard.

They are the progressives' New Normal ruling elite

they achieved victory in Viet Nam here in the States, they dominated domestically for most of the decades since then.. they are the Establishment; but things are changing, they've never had to answer anyone until now, and they are for the first time flummoxed (IMO) and extremely dangerous.

Drudge is right to present them as dangerous as Hitler, Stalin, Mao . . . .
