I’m dreaming of running for president on the platform, that to prevent Obammunism from taking over our country, that “we have a tank in every garage”.

[FDR’s call for a “chicken in every pot” would be more appropriate for his advisors and our present head of the military, “chickens” and acting like they are on “pot”].

One can dream. An M-48 is nice, an Abrams M-1 is better.

Abrams was a fighter for freedom which is why they named a tank after him, as they did for Gen. Patton and Gen Sherman.

If they named any vehicle after Obama is would be a “Yugo”.

There is a difference, you know.

Saw the film on my then state of the art VHS in the late 80's. Always liked Jim Garner, and the idea of having a Sherman Tank to tool around in looks better day by day.

Keep Faith with the Fallen of Benghazi! Let the Obama Regime, for once, tell the Truth!

Fiat Justitia, Ruat Coelum!

Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

I’ll take the Abrams myself. I drove one around playing NG for a while. Fun to get up to speed.

Hi Max, I would vote for you!

For the sake of accuracy, it was not FDR that talked about “a chicken in every pot.” It was actually used by the RNC in Hoover’s campaign, after using it for Harding and Coolidge. The RNC stole it from King Henry IV of France. http://www.americanthinker.com/2012/09/a_chicken_in_every_pot_food_and_presidential_politics.html

But, I like your slogan of a tank in every garage.

Garner's a lib in real life, but he is fun on screen.

If you haven't seen Space Cowboys, I would highly recommend it...

If I had one of those, the first thing I would do is drive it over a SmartCar.

James Garner: “Posse Comitatus.”

Sheriff: “Did you just call me a pussy communist?”

If ever asked should citizens being allowed to own a tank, answer yes. Then explain that only those in the Bill Gates, Donald Trump income range could possibly afford one, and no one should ever worry about billionaires committing street crimes with one. Same for nuclear weapons. Anyone who could afford a nuclear weapon, buying a couple of NFL franchises would be cheaper, would also have the scratch to hire the scientists (A.Q. Khan anybody) to build him one if buying one was not an option.

Upon relfection, it might not have been Jim Garner who said Posse Comitatus. More likely his CO when the sheriff demanded the army go after Garner and his tank.
