reminds me of those Readers Digest stories
“testifying in the federal criminal trial of John Edwards, my former boss”
The woman who wrote this article is a journalist, a liberal Democrat, a resident of Washington D.C. and a former employee of liberal Democrat John Edwards. This woman should not be allowed anywhere near a firearm. It is no surprise, with a life like that, she is depressed to the point of being suicidal.
“Please Take Away My Right to a Gun”
How about you just move to North Korea, you spineless puke. I heard they have a fine use for guys who are ball-less.
A mentally ill political speech writer. Gee, I wonder which
party she writes for.
We have the God-given right to defend ourselves, and as such, the right to any means that makes it easier to defend ourselves. By the same token, an individual has the right to not avail him/herself of such means if they don’t think they can use them responsibly.
This is STILL not a reason to deprive everyone of the right.
By her logic, she should also not be allowed to buy knives, ropes, gas ovens, drain cleaner, razor blades, pharmaceuticals, rat poisons, automobiles, bathtubs, toasters, hair dryers, and anything else she could use to kill herself. She also needs to be banned from tall buildings, bridges, cliffs, oceans, lakes, ponds, or anywhere else she could throw herself off or drown herself.
I think this illustrates the difference between a “progressive” and a conservative quite well. Like Wendy Button, I too am subject to depression, and therefore I have chosen not to own a firearm (though if I may brag a bit, I’m actually a pretty good shot with a pistol). However, I would never dream of restricting the Constitutional right of others to own a firearm. I know that about *myself,* that I probably should not own a gun, and I have the self-discipline not to go out and acquire one. She, the liberal, does not seem to have that self-discipline and so wants the nanny state to do it for her (oh, and for everyone else too).
Good grief. Grow a pair, Wendy.
Not only is Liberalism a mental disease, but this seems to indicate that it is contagious.
Simple solution: don't let Libs have guns, and leave the rest of us alone. Just to be safe, take away their high capacity semiautomatic ego-feeding devices, too.
This piece is just weird. I can’t make sense of it. Why does this woman want the government to take away her 2nd Amendment right? She admitted to already declining to purchase a gun. Is she afraid the temptation to buy a gun will become too great and she will buy one and kill herself?
Can’t she just call the proper authorities who provide bckground check information and get herself on a list?
Wait... This writer isn’t saying that because she’s a nutcase who wants her own 2nd Amendment rights taken away that EVERYBODY should have their 2nd Amendment rights taken away, is she? Huh... Well, if she is a liberal Democrat then we already know she is rude and boorish enough to walk into the polling place on election day and vote for big government to confiscate more tax dollars... from her neighbors. So maybe she is indeed selfish enough to demand that because she is in fear of her own mental illness, EVERYBODY should pay the price and lose their rights.
You never know how selfish the fascist Democrat left can be sometimes. But then, this piece is so poorly written it’s hard to tell what her point is. (shrug) I guess the NY Times will publish anything these days.
The immortal contribution of the American Declaration of Independence is to recognize the existing reality that our rights are unalienable. At least they not a subject to being aliened by others, whether Kings, tyrants, or Democrat administrations. One can presumably knowingly and willingly surrender his rights but nature's God ordains that they are otherwise unalienable.
If someone is so clinically crazy that he cannot be countenance to have a firearm, he does not have a right to a firearm in the first place. Neither the Founding Fathers, John Locke, the authors of the Constitution, nor the authors of the British Bill of Rights considered that a maniac had a right to a firearm. But that is a different matter from taking the right away from someone who is mentally competent and who is possessed of an unalienable right.
Finally, someone suffering from a depression may not through her propaganda project her own neuroses on the whole society to deprive it of its unalienable rights.
Now they can denied ever owning one.
I got a little depressed after that and thought about eating a bowl of ice cream. ;8^)

“Blackberry thwarts assassin” The only thing missing in this story is the tu tu he might have been wearing at the time of the attempted breakin. If this heart warming story dont make you give up your right to protect you own a## I dont know what will
Please take away her right to sleeping pills and to abortion, too, because after having one she is quite likely to experience serious depression
Isnt it sort of ironic that the New York Times must resort to using someone mentally unstable to support their anti gun agenda? Is this the best they have? Does it surprise anyone that someone who is barely holding onto reality is a Democratic, even worked to try to get one elected? Sort of I have trouble with life but the New York Times gives me a platform to tell you how to live yours.
Regards,
Let’s see.....who should I listen to regarding the Second Amendment? Wendy Button or Thomas Jefferson?
Gee, now that’s a tough one/s
why is it liberals have such a hard time with responsibility?
the 2nd amendmant does not require you to own a gun, but this “writer” makes it sound like a requirement. if you dont want one, dont buy one. not that hard.
Advice from a nut.
