The head of Germany's Green party, Claudia Roth, is under fire for 'high fiving' the Iranian ambassador to Germany, Ali Reza Sheikh Attar. Akhtar is accused of massacring Kurds when he was governor of their region between 1980 and 1985.

According to historians, the excuse for the “Night of the Long Knives” was that Hitler killed off the SA to appease the Army.
The real reason was that Ernst Rohm and the SA were pretty much Communists in everything but name, and the industrialists whom Hitler needed to build his war machine wouldn’t support him unless the Communist influence was purged from the party.
Of course once the war was won, Hitler’s next target after he got rid of the Jews, was going to be the capitalists.
Nothing worse than a self-loathing Jew.
I am sure in 1933, there were some Jews in Germany who actually supported Hitler, because they thought he would only go after “the bad Jews.”
During the early 30s the Nazi Party and the “German” Communist Party (fully funded and controlled by Stalin's Comintern) conducted joint attacks against the meetings and members of non-radical German political parties & trade unions. The Comintern's policy was that those non-radicals enemies and not Nazis had to be defeated 1st for Communism to takeover Germany. Those Communist members who openly disagree or resisted were eliminated.
After the Nazis & Communist allies defeated the non-radicals, Hitler beat the Communist in the final stategy they shared - that of eliminating their former ally.
Stalin feared a strong German Communist Party, for it seemed highly likely that if the Communists took over Germany, it is logical that they would have wrestled control of the worldwide Communist movement from Moscow.
Of course Stalin feared that more than anything, and basically offered the KPD to Hitler on a platter. Hitler, in killing off the KPD, did Stalin’s dirty work for him. Although at the time, Hitler probably didn’t realize it.
If you can get a copy of “Out of the Night” by Jan Valtin (real name Richard Krebs) a long time KPD member and high level Comintern operative, you will not regret it. That book along with Whitaker Chamber's “Witness” - both defecting Communist insiders - exposed the monolithic Stalinist enemy and its methods within the Western Democracies and thereby shaped the Cold War that followed.
Valtin’s/Kreb’s book includes names, dates and times of the Stalin controlled operatons of the KPD, including its joint operations with the Nazis against moderate socialist, liberals & trade union. When Hitler outmaneuvered the Stalinist for power in Germany, Stalin had no alternative but order the KPD into a suicidal final defense to stall while he pivoted his puppet Communist Parties around the world into “popular fronts” against fascism, with moderate socialist, liberals & trade union. (How similar is what latter happened with the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact?)
