Los Angeles police completed their biggest search in recent memory Friday, with 120 investigators scouring seven acres in the Hollywood hills looking for additional body parts of a man whose severed head, hands and feets were discovered earlier this week, authorities said. But the search, which began Tuesday, didn't find additional limbs or a torso, and detectives are continuing their investigation, police said Friday. "We have no updates of new body parts," said Cleon Joseph, a police spokesman. Upon concluding the hillside search, police Friday reopened Bronson Canyon Park beneath the Hollywood sign and urged hikers and other recreational visitors...

"And friends of the Palestinians do them no favors by ignoring this truth, just as friends of Israel must recognize the need to pursue a two state solution with a secure Israel next to an independent Palestine," President Obama said at the UN. "That is the truth. Each side has legitimate aspirations – and that is what makes peace so hard. And the deadlock will only be broken when each side learns to stand in each other’s shoes. Each side can see the world through the other's eyes. That’s what we should be encouraging."

Harry Alford is the president and CEO of the National Black Chamber of Commerce. And boy is he entertaining. He’s also not a fan of many of the business positions Democrats have taken. You might remember him for his fiery exchange with call-me-Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) in 2009, when he accused the senator of infusing race into a congressional hearing: Today he joined Laura Ingraham on her radio show to talk about Obama’s business policies. He started with this: “Obama wanted the National Black Chamber to dance to his music and have blind allegiance to his crazy programs and agenda,...

Knesset committee scheduled to debate on whether J Street is sufficiently 'committed' to Israel to be called a pro-Israel organization. The leftist pro-Israel lobby J Street launched a petition and letter writing campaign on Sunday calling on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to treat J Street and other pro-peace movements as allies. The Knesset committee is scheduled to debate this Wednesday whether J Street is sufficiently "committed" to Israel to be called a pro-Israel organization. J Street President Jeremy Ben-Ami, who arrived in Israel in order to participate in the debate, said in a letter that the petition is intended to...

Jesse Jackson rallies with Ohio's unionsAssociated Press COLUMBUS - The Rev. Jesse Jackson said workers shouldn't be the "scapegoat" for the nation's economic woes as he joined a few hundred people at a union hall in Ohio amid debate over a bill that would abolish collective bargaining rights for state workers. Chants of "collective bargaining, not collective begging" and Jackson's trademark "keep hope alive" were heard at the Teamsters downtown Columbus hall on Wednesday, and some held signs reading "stop the war on workers." On Tuesday, Jackson had joined protesters at the Statehouse, where a Senate committee reviewed the bill....

MADISON, Wis.--The head of Wisconsin's powerful teachers' union is calling on educators to return to classrooms Monday and Tuesday rather than continue being absent to protest an anti-union bill at the state Capitol. The protests against a bill that would take away public workers' right to collectively bargain for their benefits and working conditions forced several school districts to shut down last week after teachers called in sick to join demonstrators in Madison.

Browner says she did not know about the court order and simply was seeking to remove some games, which her son had installed on her work computer, before leaving office with other Clinton appointees on Jan. 19. Things had been looking up for gun-rights activists. In 2008, the Supreme Court ruled in D.C. v. Heller that Washington’s handgun laws were unconstitutional. In the summer of 2010, in McDonald v Chicago, the court expanded that ruling to apply to handgun laws in all 50 states. Even President Obama seemed relatively open to Second Amendment rights, saying on the campaign trail: “I believe there is a Second Amendment right. I think it is an individual right. I think people have the right to lawfully bear arms.” Now, it seems that when it comes to Obama and guns, he was...

Specifically on the White House scandal again – I was told a report was coming soon. Something from a mainstream media outlet. Have you heard something similar? Where did you hear that? Your newspaper days coming back to you now? Just something I heard – reliably. Have you heard anything similar? (pause) Yes. Many people have. This thing is percolating just under the surface right now. Sooner – not later, the pot is gonna start boiling. Yeah, someone is about to test the waters with this thing. I’ve heard that. Then again, I’ve heard that for a while now, so...

(this was posted in a previous thread about America dying, with no reply from men, as has become too sadly familiar) ---------------------------------------------------- When a country lifts up a man like Bill Clinton that defiled the Oval Office as none has ever done, the media throws their arms around him, he is not held accountable nor has HE EVER OFFERED THE MUCH TORTURED APOLOGY SO MANY CONSERVATIVES ARE ASKED TO DO, FOR MINOR SLIPS OF THE TONGUE.... Our world has gone upside down. Clinton should have hung his head in shame and and been ostracized from society. This lack of moral...

The Democratic chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee lambasted the Obama administration over its handling of an incident at a St. Louis VA center in which more than 1,800 veterans were told they may have been exposed to HIV. “It's outrageous, one, that this happens, but even worse is this secretive, almost cover-up mode that they go into when something like this happens,” Rep. Bob Filner (D-Calif.) said on CNN Monday. The Department of Veterans Affairs last month sent a letter to 1,812 patients informing them that could have been exposed to HIV and other deadly viruses because of...

Education Spending Increases and Broken Promises [Dan Lips] Whoever was working on the Department of Education’s budget for 2011 in the White House apparently missed the memo about the president’s new commitment to fiscal discipline. The 2011 budget proposal includes a whopping $173 billion in spending on college student aid programs, a $3 billion increase for the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (a.k.a. “No Child Left Behind”), and a proposal to create the federal government’s 70th preschool and child-care program (at a cost of $9.3 billion over ten years). But experience has shown that federal spending increases have delivered few...

Ghana immediately asked for it to be returned and the Dutch government asked the hospital to cooperate.

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) — A man claiming to be the leader of al-Qaida in Iraq vowed in an audiotape released Saturday to launch a monthlong offensive against U.S. troops. "We call on our beloved ones ... that each unit should present the head of...

Summary: Brain Researchers Link Mental Woes, Alcoholism To Long-Ago Blows. ...That severe head injuries can lead to cognitive and behavioral problems is widely accepted. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates 5.3 million Americans suffer from mental or physical disability that is due to brain injury. What's new is the contention of some researchers that there are many other cases where a severe past blow to the head, resulting in unconsciousness or confusion, is the unrecognized source of such problems. "Unidentified traumatic brain injury is an unrecognized major source of social and vocational failure," says Wayne A. Gordon,...

Two were wounded in gunfighting with the IDF...

What do you do when your firewall melts? That's the problem Hillary Clinton now confronts. New Hampshire was the place that Team Clinton hoped would sustain them even if they lost Iowa. Clinton has led here for months, has the support of many key players in the power structure, and benefits from a reservoir of good will for her husband. Still, in the wake of Barack Obama's surprisingly strong victory in the Iowa caucuses, Clinton's advantage has crumbled -- and her campaign hasn't found an effective way to respond. In Saturday night's debate, her attempts to draw a legitimate difference...

A headless skeleton found in a Peruvian tomb is adding new wrinkles to the debate over human sacrifice in the ancient Andes. The decapitated body was found in the Nasca region, named for the ancient civilization that thrived in southern Peru from A.D. 1 to 750. But experts have been divided over whether the heads were taken from enemies in war or from locals offered up for ritual sacrifice....
