A Great President for Blacks?
Washington Monthly ^ | Jan/Feb 2013 | Simon van Zuylen-Wood

If you think Obama hasn’t delivered for African Americans, take a closer look at his record

(snip) A case study helps illustrate the point. Youngstown, Ohio, is 45 percent black, and among the poorest cities in America. But a glance at Youngstown in the Obama era, where unemployment has actually dipped five points in four years, offers a window into the president’s outsized influence on middle- and low-income African Americans.

(snip) In the Times essay, Harris wrote that in his second term Obama should advocate for “targeted universalism,” which he defined as “job-training and housing programs that are open to all, but are concentrated in low-income, minority communities.” If Harris had studied the stimulus more carefully, or poked around cities like Youngstown, he would have learned that Obama has done precisely that. Indeed, certain benefits of “targeted universalism” have already been reaped: tax credits, unemployment benefits, and expansions of food stamps kept six million people out of poverty in 2009 and seven million in 2010, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. In both years, more than 1.3 million of those beneficiaries were black. And that calculation doesn’t include the vast majority of stimulus provisions, such as the $87 billion expansion of Medicaid. ....

(snip) ...Obama’s critics, including Harris, have given the stimulus such short shrift. That said, it’s the policies that have yet to fully kick in that may do the most for African Americans. When the key provisions of the Affordable Care Act take effect in 2014, four million more African Americans will have health insurance, raising the proportion of blacks with health insurance from 78 percent to more than 90 percent, according to a November Health Affairs study.

(more excerpt) Conventional Wisdom says: "In the post-recession economy, blacks have fared worse than any other racial group, and the black-white wealth gap is more pronounced now than at any time since people started collecting data on it twenty-five years ago." ....

But this article showed "Obama administration (had done nothing but) to deliver for African Americans in more traditional race-specific ways. ..... African Americans may have suffered during Obama’s first term as they were hit hard by the effects of the Great Recession. But it’s simply inaccurate to suggest that Obama has not been looking out for black America, as ordinary African Americans well know and demonstrated in the polls last November."

Other minorities in general, Blacks specifically. And Union (white) bosses.

Obama has certainly accelerated the program of black self-extermination, and the direct extermination of criminal blacks by the gun carrying public.

Between long term birth control, favored by black women; abortion, now killing the majority of black babies in NYC; black children raised by single mothers, who are 60% more likely to criminally offend and belong to gangs; and the impressive black on black homicide rate; slave-descended blacks are demographically dying out.

Only by permitting increasing numbers of African blacks to immigrate to the US is this decline concealed. African blacks do not suffer the same self-destructive tendencies of slave-descended blacks, and generally try to avoid them to likewise avoid their cultural suicide.

But Obama has done everything in his power, directly and indirectly, to kill off s-d blacks at an ever faster rate.

You are right. But we need to dispel the notion that Obama did not deliver the goods to Blacks.

The Dems have a long history of policies directed at ‘helping Blacks’. All it did is to create a permanent underclass that depend on gubmint handouts without ‘earning’ them. As the Left intended.

Obama/Pelosi certainly accelerated the pace, and encouraged growing a larger underclass not only of Blacks.

As such, can we call Obama a ‘great’ president for blacks?

Depends on your race, and your definition of ‘greatness’.

There seems to an assumption by too many, lately it seems to include Rubio, that Mexican “undocumenteds” are crossing the unprotected Mexican border to become citizens of the US when studies show they’re not. They’re crossing the border to get work and be paid better than what they get in their own country which they return to.

When is the treatment of American citizens in Mexico and their rights vs US treatment of Mexicans going to be an issue when we discuss amnesty ? What makes it necessary for US to subjugate our sovereignty because of available cheap labor ?

Ever hear of reciprocal aggrements ? These are arranged to protect the rights of American citizens working or living in other countries.

Why is it when it comes to citizens of other countries we are required to offer them the same privledges as we do to US citizens? But when it comes to US citizens who get in trouble or attempt to do business in other countries they do not get the same treatment their citizens get.

Americans can’t own coast land in Mexico. And get no title to it elsewhere. If they run out of cash they’ll get unceremoniously sent back or put in jail untill some relative comes up with the “fresh”. That’s just for starters as for granting them voting privledges yea let’s give Mexican citizens that right when American citizens vote in their elections .

That reciprocal question should take center stage in any Republican response but it’s not even on the Republican drawing boards. Guys like Rove and others ignored the mechanics of basic campaigning. They allowed the M.ainline S.ocialist M.edia drive the issues and are still doing so and I specifically cite “demographics”. RINOS learned nothing from their disasters.I find it inexcuseable for Rove to allow his boss GWB get continuosly trashed without responding.

These people I call them GOPES because it rhymes with dopes right now are falling into the same trap. Limbaugh and Levin, God bless them ...realize that what Limbaugh calls the LIV’s (low intelligence voters) actually believe that Obama is offering the proverbial “olive branch” to Republicans when actually he is proceeding on his path to complete socialism. AND THEY CAN’T CALL HIM A LIAR .

This administration came up with a policy on energy which had driven up the cost on everything. It was on the tongue of every black, white. yellow, and brown skined person living in the US....IT WENT UNTOUCHED in the 2012 campaign....WORSE YET IT IS STILL GOING UNCHALLANGED

Now the GOPES (GOP Elite Snobs used because it rhymes with dopes) are buying into the “demographic” argument offered by the MSM.

That’s the Obama energy policy. Here you have an issue staring at them straight in the face affecting every man, woman, and child of every skin color and you can’t bring it up ? It’s driving up the cost of everything. and they talk about “demographics” being pushed by the socialist media .

They should be decrying the philosphy of “demographics” by stating they’re Americans first not Afro-Americans. not Hispanic-Americans and not-Asian-Americans, or “White”-Americans. The counter charge should be these are socialist tactics neing pushed by the hypenated Demo-coms. Democrats in socialist/fascist clothing. Let alone not mention the booing of God’s name during their convention then belittle those Republicans who express a religious conviction even to the point of suggesting that those that do shouldn’t run for political office.

Rove and his RINOS are wrong for the Republicans

I would certainly agree that Odingo Hussein has a MANDATE FROM "HIS PEOPLE".

But the blame for having this non-NBC sitting in the White Hut rests fairly on the slave guilt ridden WHITES that put him there. Whoever was the one that saw Obama and the slave guilt as the way to take over was indeed a genius and really really understood how "feelings" can override your brain. Reminds me of addictions.

In this case, they certainly knew the value of the drug...
