St. Valentine's Day Massacre: Washington Post Slashes Staff
Breitbart.com ^ | 2/15/13 | John Nolte

Though she's not getting much credit for it, it's just a fact that most of the important media scoops of late have been coming from Betsy Rothstein at FishbowlDC. Today marks another scoop and, better still, another moment to savor in the slow-motion collapse of the mainstream media. According to Rothstein's reporting, a round of 54 layoffs are planned at the once-legendary Washington Post. It's amazing how quickly a left-wing newspaper will turn into the stereotypically evil corporate maven. The Post is not only trying to hush-hush the layoffs, but also using cold, calculated words like "inefficiencies" to describe the pulling of a rug out from under a human being's life:

Every department facing cuts was asked to keep the news to their department only, as to not make it look like a mass layoff. We’re told those given pink slips include Beth Jacobs, General Manager of Mobile, and Ken Dodelin, Director of Mobile Products. Sources say the entire Mobile Product Management and IT Project Management staffs have been eliminated.

“[CIO and VP Shaliesh] Prakash thinks these are ‘inefficiencies’ – that is the exact word he uses for human beings who are not useful according to him,” said a source who spoke only on condition of anonymity. “Get rid of experienced people to save money, under the garb of streamlining is the new trend inside the Post.”

Other than child molesters and terrorists, I don’t hate anyone -- not even members of the corrupt media. And I'm sincerely relieved that those losing their gigs at the Post live in the United States of America where they have access to food stamps and rent assistance. But the fact that the Washington Post has been a major player in manufacturing The Big Lie about Obama's failed economy, is not lost on me.

Gotta admit, I’m a bit puzzled. I had presumed the media’s slavish lockstep devotion to Obama had something to do with the promise of a bailout during his second term.

Interesting. This will be the only future for newspapers and the WP has once again snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Stupid should hurt and especially so for the occupation media.

” - - - Like the rest of the media, the Post sold its soul to get Obama elected and then sold whatever was left to win his re-election. In order to do that, the Post lied about and/or ignored the failed ideas of the Left and state the American economy after four years of Obamanomics. - - - “

And across the Land could be hear the dovish call of the Liberal Agenda Bird: Waaa - Poo! - - - - Waaa - Poo! - - - - Waaa - Poo!

The guy who bought what was left would be a great customr for me. I have vacation time shares in my hotel on Europa I'm willing to let go for a price on the low end of reasonable.

Leftists prefer TV airheads - the kind of 'talent' that wonders if asteroids are influenced by global warming... And they like MSNBC true-believer types. Real newsmen could be a threat... requires some intelligence to write...

The left's not going to bail them out - they'll hire their own PR re-write groups...

The thing that has always puzzled me is why the MSM is so supportive of the economic policies of liberal Democrats, policies that they know will cause nationwide economic growth to flounder and thereby cause losses of their industries’ income and decreases of employment in their industries. Yet they rubber-stamp these policies.

As I say, it’s a mystery...unless, of course, they see this as a temporary aberration on the path to widespread socialism.

Most of the members of the media are soooooo arrogant. They believe they are our masters.

They either preach to the lowest common denominator audience (i.e. the Real Housewives of Atlant crowd), or to fellow atheist liberals whom they feel comfortable around.

I just saw an advertisement for a TV program, and Tom Brokejaw was doing the commercial spot. He said to his faux interviewer:

"They are not just looking at you to find out what happened...they are looking at you to find out what it MEANS!"

Uhhhh, no Tom. I can analyze the facts of any story and determine the meaning for myself.

I would prefer it if you were a "news reader" as the British refer to their anchors. Read the news, and that's all.

Journalists - and I know a few of them having worked alongside them over the past four years - think they are doing the Lord’s Work. And thereby, the money thing is secondary.

They actually think the World owes them a living because of what they do. It’s up to someone else to make the numbers work out.

Advertising? Not my problem. Readership? My work product speaks for itself. They really do think its their job to “speak truth to power” and everyone should pay them for doing it.

Collapse of mainstream media? We wish. It’s getting stronger and more dominant than it ever was.
