Diànnǎo Hēikè

“For to win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill.” –Sun Tzu

Sun Tzu would love cyber warfare. The master of the Chinese board game of Go enjoyed the idea of defeating his enemy without a battle. China is conducting cyber war on the United States. The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) have a group of highly trained hackers (Hēikè) whose sole purpose is to attack American companies in order to steal information to enhance the Chinese Military. This hacking group is working with the full knowledge and blessing of the Communist’s Government leadership. It’s time America acknowledges that the Chinese are conducting a full-scale cyber war against the west.

Who

“All war is deception.” –Sun Tzu

The PLA “Unit 61398“ is believed to be launching cyber-attacks against the United States from a nondescript 12- story building in Shanghai. Most of the hacking is performed by the unit using the names Comment Crew or the Shanghai Group. The groups are most likely elements of Unit 61398. The actual manpower or capability of the PLA unit is unknown but most of the cyber-attacks have been traced back to this building in a dilapidated area, a location which would certainly be preferred by hacker groups. The actual operation of the unit is considered a state secret and the government will deny its existence, in fact they have ridiculed such accusations.

Tom Clancy's latest novel centered on an aggressive PLA instigating cyberattacks against the US military and national infrastructure.

Tom Clancy's latest novel

They must have adopted it as their instruction manual.

They didn’t need Clancy.
The PLA were educated in American universities.

China is growing.

They are now the world’s largest exporter. Reminder to readers, we used to be the world’s largest exporter.

Wake up. We need American jobs back.

Bring back US jobs now.

Some flip sides that no one talks about:

1. We have good hackers too. It would be a mistake to assume that Chinese systems (or those of any other country) are impenetrable while ours are wide open. In fact, I’m betting that in most cases their security is far more lax than hours. In fact, the best thing they probably have going for them is their unfamiliar keyboard character set.
2. If they can steal valid information, they can also be led into stealing crap, or worse. I think we pulled his on the Russians in the 1980s.
3. Just as the Chinese may now many of the parts for our systems, we still make many of the parts for theirs. Who knows what some of those parts can be made to do under the right circumstances?

Bottom line: Payback is a b!tch. I’m sure the Chinese are smart enough to realize this and how vulnerable they themselves are.

of course they would. they’re china.

it’s like the US condoning canada for hacking an al queda site. of course we would.

how this confuses people is beyond me. of course, many people still think 0bama is trying to help the country... as he pushes us further into crushing debt, sabotages our 5th gen fighters, purposefully drops our specops warriors into meat grinders, destroys our nuclear arsenal, pushes to disarm the greater population... all the while arming hezbollah, insuring iran gets nukes, shipping f-16s to the muslim brotherhood and helping north korea get viable nuclear tipped warheads.

We wouldn't want to confuse the Low information voters with too many facts at once...The best clandestine operations are the ones that nobody talks about. In that regards, China have already lost their gotcha moment of surprise.

But every Free Trader Communist Globalist will whine “Protectionism, Isolationism” if you do anything to the Communist Chinese...especially if you go after them on trade

You put higher tariffs on the Communist Chinese goods coming into this country....they will cut that nonsense out. Immediately. They know the Free Trader Commie Subversives in this country got their back...because the one way to counter the Commie Chinese is always attacked by Free Trader Commies

Can you imagine, 60 yrs ago, if we had Free Trader NutJobs running this country....they would be giving the Rosenbergs a Congressional Medal of Honor, instead of executing them. They would have surrendered to Mao, Castro, and every other Commie

China, rather the Chinese Government has never really had that "gotcha moment of surprise." Of course their Government is aware of - and outright encouraging - the hacking attempts against our Government, Defense Companies, Financial Institutions, and other companies with valuable intellectual property in an attempt to gain the upper hand.

I can tell you point blank the Chinese Government knows and condones the attempts to do the above. I can guarantee you our Government (well, perhaps not Barry's Administration) has known for years that all internet access into and out of China is heavily monitored by the Chinese Government, so there's simply no way the Chinese Government has anything remotely resembling plausible deniability on this issue.

The entire country's internet access goes through government facilities (a "choke point") where all inbound/outbound packets are collected, disassembeled, inspected and re-assembled on the fly and is heavily monitored by Chinese Government workers.

In the mid 90's through 2004 I worked for a very large Chicago based Advertising Agency (world renowned, top 50 "blue chip companies" as clients) that was attempting to open an office in China for purposes of expanding our advertising reach and obviously, to make money. There was simply no way we could get a telecommunications circuit OUT of China without having it go through the Chinese Government's facilities where all inbound/outbound traffic is captured, recorded, inspected, etc.. As we were not very happy with the prospect of the Chinese Government monitoring our traffic and outright stealing our IP (intellectual property) and seeing our financials since we'd be sending financial reporting information back and forth, we opted to not open an office and do business in China. At least at that time.

Even back then (2003/2004) we knew the Chinese Government was engaged in IP theft so not being able to get our own non-government monitored circuits out of the country we declined to do business there. Anyone who doesn't know that China's Government is actively involved in stealing our IP to gain competitive advantage or to be able to conduct cyber-warfare (shut off the lights, etc..) seriously has been living in a cave or watching CNN.

We may have to in the near future, because I think china plans on taking over all of our assets along with business interests operating there, and flipping us the bird, under the guise of repayment for all money we owe them.

Good. How about tomorrow. The traitors that moved their assets to Red Chinese territory deserve to lose it and it would be a great start on eliminating the national debt. It’s time we US citizens understand that the multinational corporations are our enemies not our friends.

An accurate phrase.

It is the only logical result of what is happening over there now.

We must change course. Bring back US industry now.

Now.

Not soon. Not in a year or two.

Now.
