With less than a week until the automatic slowdown of Federal spending kicks in, it seems like every group in the USA is screaming for mercy from the ravenous spending slowdown. ABC News lists 57 terrible consequences of the sequester, including “U.S. Less Prepared for a ‘WMD Incident’” and “An Even More Porous Border” (you mean, even MORE porous than now??). Wow, all that pain and suffering from a trivial slowdown in government spending.
On top of the media hysteria over sequester cuts, I read that IKEA is selling horsemeat in their Swedish Meatballs over in Europe. I doubt if Mr. Ed would approve.
But in terms of economic news, the Chicago Fed National Activity Index took a negative dive to -0.32 for Janaury after a revised print of +0.25 in December.
Meanwhile, gold and gasoline as up in early morning trading.
The US Treasury 10 year yield opened up this morning.
Between Swedish Horsemeatballs, Sequester Hysteria and the Chicago Fed index dropping, I am hoping the housing news tomorrow is more optimistic.

Is it like chicken?
Sort of like a combination of chicken (dark meat) and pork.
I had them bull-calf meat balls a’fore, little breadin’ on ‘em, little cocktail(?)sauce, little heppin’ a slaw onna side...puuuurty tasty!
Never tried no horse balls though wonder if’n they might give a feller the trots!
Think it would be interesting to try.
I’m assuming it would be a local delicacy and not very widely distributed throughout the country. Especially up here in the northeast.
It’s available in Louisiana, but not sure about the rest of the country. I’ve eaten it in Russia, where it’s available in the local markets. I’ve read that it’s considered to be the poor man’s meat, but I found it to be quite expensive - twice the cost of rabbit.
